We've played one P5 team. We beat them. We play another P5 team in two weeks. I guess we'll see how overwhelmed our lines get.
The Vandy game is billed as a blackout. Im definitely wearing the black UH shirt I wore when we played USF 2 seasons ago.
Lmao poor liltexxx getting jealous. Once Rice moves to the Southland Conference they may have a shot to run the table. Keep hope alive
Getting called out by the brand new coach of a brand new top 25 team who keeps talking about big conference aspirations, ouch Coogs, cmon. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">From <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachTomHerman">@CoachTomHerman</a> on his weekly <a href="https://twitter.com/KPRCradio">@KPRCradio</a> <a href="https://t.co/o6b1Lq006q">pic.twitter.com/o6b1Lq006q</a></p>— Joseph Duarte (@Joseph_Duarte) <a href="https://twitter.com/Joseph_Duarte/status/657001035672584193">October 22, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">. <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachTomHerman">@CoachTomHerman</a> adds, "We need to get (alumni base) energized, proud again and coming back and being active in UH community."</p>— Joseph Duarte (@Joseph_Duarte) <a href="https://twitter.com/Joseph_Duarte/status/657001692668387328">October 22, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">. <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachTomHerman">@CoachTomHerman</a>: "We need to do a better job getting butts in the seats and filling that stadium up every week."</p>— Joseph Duarte (@Joseph_Duarte) <a href="https://twitter.com/Joseph_Duarte/status/657002038107115520">October 22, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
This pretty much. The games this year have had pretty good crowds outside of the SMU game. I expect the rest of the home slate to be jam packed outiside of maybe the Vandy game due to the game being on Halloween night and even that game will have 34k+ in attendance IMO.
i cant speak for every coog fan. i have season tickets and have been going to every game even when i was a student, but i can tell you the main reason nobody is going is because of the schedule. wait till we schedule better ooc opponents at home, then you will see the sell outs. the rest of the conference schedule this season will be sell outs though. hell, people really started to buy season tickets in 2010 in sumlin's 3rd year after we kinda made noise in 2009.
That is the correct answer. When your city's college team is undefeated, when the QB is in the Heisman discussion, and when the head coach is personally calling out the fans, there is no excuse not to be at these games. Even if you're not an alum, you can still come out and support. I've been to A&M and LSU games, and I can honestly say that UH games are just as fun. The only difference is the crowd, but obviously that starts with us. If anyone here goes to the games and wants to tailgate, just let me know!
im actually glad herman called out the fan base. thats one of the many reasons why i like his personality. he tells it like it is. I mean what are 4 saturdays out the year going to hurt? nothing.
Tom is right to challenge the city and the alumni to get their asses to the stadium. Art did it, Kevin did it. They were right then, and he's right now. We're not where we should be or want to be, but I'd argue we have made the most progress in terms of program growth across the entire FBS over the last 10 years. UH had a crappy administration for 15+ years (Carr and Gladchuk) that 1) failed to capitalize on significant success and 2) viewed athletics as an annoyance rather than an advertising opportunity. That resulted in decade of lost fans. You'll struggle to find anyone who graduated from UH from 92-02 who is even remotely a fan of the program.
same...both 5-7 years were brutal (especially in 2010 since we had high expectations but injuries killed us) but i still went to all the games.
Filling seats usually comes down to marketing. There's a good product out there. So marketing really has no excuses. Calling out the fans for being apathethic won't change anything. The Cougar games need to become the event to go to. And if if that means stippers for every fan to recruit them, then that is what u do.
