Interesting that the Mets managed this game almost identical to Hinch.

So, Back to the Future 2 didn't predict the Cubs winning the WS after all. Don't like/hate the Cubs but it would've been cool if it came true since the Astros aren't in the playoffs anymore.

    Mets in the World Series?!
Sweeping the 97-win Cubs? Never trailed in the series
Daniel Murphy with a HR in 6 straight games?!

 Incredible! Congrats to the Mets!

Wonder how different everything turns out if that Gomez trade to the Mets didn't fall through. Cespedes pretty much carried them the rest of the season and now Murphy has taken over.

Mets starters vs. that Royals line-up? I couldn't have asked for more.

Really happy for Terry Collins...former Astros manager who was maybe a bit young and immature when he was with us. Learned how to stay calm and now look at him.

I actually met him just after he was fired way back in 1996. I told him I felt they gave up on a good manager and good luck in the future. He was extremely nice and gracious and had a short conversation with him.

    Hope they whip the Royals.

    Agreed... its pretty easy, IMO.

Not sure where the announcers are "baffled" (Reynolds and Verducci) as to how they would have to implement that if they wanted to change it. I agree any replay has the ability to open a slippery slope of what is reviewable and what isn't... then again, I think calls like pass interference and holding "could" be reviewable in the NFL, but ultimately they took a hard stance to determine what should be based on judgement and what should be based on irrefutable replay evidence.

In this case, the pop up slide was never a problem... till replay exposed the micro-fraction that guys get off the base.

Over-sliding will still be an out.... as should be times where the runner's foot or hand never even comes in contact with the base (even if they may have beaten the tag).

The Mets hands down have the nastiest young starting 5 in the game : Harvey, DeGrom,Syndergard, Matz, Wheeler( come from ACL next season). It is ridic how loaded & young they are. Good luck NL in the next few years if they stay together & healthy.

Playoff choker David Price has one last chance to redeem himself in game 6 tomorrow. If he doesn't come up big I don't see how you would want to pay him 30 million annually. He's not only pitching for his reputation, but also for his checkbook.

He's going to get paid a ton... regardless.

His career (and future earning potential) will not be judged by a mixed bag of results (some good) of all of 7 post-season games started.

Hell, Greg freakin Maddux sucked his first 6-7 post-season games pitched (compared to his career numbers). Eventually, he accumulated enough post-season starts to where it all leveled out.

Same could be said for "post-season God" Andy Pettite.

I see a similar trend with Kershaw now.

Price certainly didn't look like he was choking when he was pitching into the 7th inning with a shutout... of course, we all know what happened, but I wouldn't consider that "choking" either.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. There's going to be teams like the Yankees, Dodgers, Giants, Red Sox, Cubs, and even the Blue Jays after him. I don't think he'll have an issue with getting paid. I doubt he gets a contract like Max Scherzer did last off season, but he'll get as much Lester got and then some.

How about the players learn how to slide and stay on the bag. Seriously. I did everything possible to stay on the base when in little league including awkwardly getting up because I knew the freaking rule was to stay on the base. They are major league ball players. They can do this.

If they had HD replay back then, they would pick up the fraction of a second where your cleat microscopically bounced off the bag while you simultaneously picked your nose.

Pop-up slides are also safer... you'll definitely see more head-first slides or spike injuries if they don't amend the nit-pick of a replay rule.

This will be the first World Series in history that does not feature at least one of the original 16 MLB teams. I thought that was intriguing, never would have guessed.

    Blown opportunity by Toronto.
