My only contribution to this discussion is you probably should have waited until Chuck Hayes actually signed a contract with the Rockets before choosing your moniker.
If you watched the Rockets at all last season, you'd know that 2nd team all NBA defense was a joke. Based on reputation only. Not saying Lin's defense is better than Beverley's, coz it's not. But to grab that award when almost all Rockets fans ended up feeling Beverley wasn't even much of a plus on D last year just shows your desperation. And the Lakers was always going to be a lottery team last year with or without Lin. You start defensive aces Robert Sacre and Jordan Hill at C and PF, Kobe at SG taking 30 shots a game, Nick Young at SF taking shots whenever Kobe isn't taking them, and put James Harden a PG on that team in the West, and that Lakers team isn't stopping anybody on D, and Harden will be sitting in the corner waiting for a Kobe kickout, and if he doesn't and tries to actually play PG, Kobe will give Scott a wink and Scott will send Harden to the bench. That team will be a 7th seed at best in the West. And the wins will only come after Kobe's season ended. And if you put Beverley on that team instead of Lin. That would be funny. Beverley picking up players 5 feet above the 3pt line getting screened out of position on almost every PnR with Sacre and Hill behind him defending the middle (that's the only way Beverley knows how to play D). And playing a traditional PG on that team. I don't know how the team would score 90, and I don't know if Beverley can put up 5 shots a game given Scott doesn't want 3 pointers, and definitely wouldn't want a worse 3 pt shooter than Lin to take 5 a game. Beverley would be getting the same salary as Lin.
My bad. He was one of my favorite players during the mediocre years. Symbolized everything that the Rockets team played with - grit, work ethic, and toughness (except Kevin Martin and AB). Hayes D on Garnett was incredible. He was immovable. Best post defender in the NBA during those years adjusted for height/wingspan. And a very smart player on offense with great passing out of the high post. Pity he couldn't shoot at all.
If Kemba Walker is injured, you think the Hornet would want Beverley over Lin in a starting role? Backup is backup. No need to overglorify this role. As Harden said it best. Dwight and I are the stars. Everyone else are role players. Role players are a function of fit mostly. That's why Jason Terry was available to us, Marcus Thornton is available to us, that's why we traded away Carl Landry and Aaron Brooks. That's why we traded away Jeremy Lin. That's why Beverley wasn't sought after in Russia (because he can't play traditional PG role).
HAHHAH Fake Rocket fan spotted. Bev didn't get all NBA 2nd team last season. LOL I ignored the rest of your post as it clearly shows you don't follow the Rockets and are here only to teabag Lin
Counting down to Clutch bans me for writing facts about Lin. Or Tinman and FTW Rockets FTW calls me a LOF. Wait ... they already did. They are prong to doing that whenever people write down facts. If I'm no longer around, you know why ...
Ok, year before if I got it wrong. You should've also reminded me about his most skilled player award at the all-tar games. Take that award seriously also. Most skilled, but low assists, and mostly shoot wide open corner 3 point shots.
You can try me. Don't ask about Beverley. Trying pre-2012 Rockets stuff. I bet you wouldn't ... don't want to be shown up or proven wrong. Try anything after Morey joined the Rockets.
Anyone who defends lin's playoff performances is a not a rockets fan. You can go to the toyota centers bathroom and it wouldn't stank as much as lin's on court performance.
Well, it only stands so much weight because that's what you guys want to see. Harden lost the OKC series, plus Rockets were underdogs anyway. Portland series Lin lost a game, but saved a game from a Harden TO. And he pretty much won two playoff OTs for us. But hey, why do 1 - 1 + 2 when we can talk about toilets.
I equivalate this as if someone joins clutchfans with a rockets esque nick, say hakeemdream But hakeemdream says what a great player pippen was and that his rockets playoff performances were better than horrys. Fake fan found.
And who played good D on Damian Lillard in the 4th quarter, only to have McHale go with Beverley down the stretch (and get burned), and Parsons switch (McHale's fault or not, has nothing to do with Lin). But don't let facts prevent you talking about toilets.
Still waiting for someone to test me on Rockets knowledge. Tinman, you don't realize that only posting about Lin and TMac, and otherwise creating threads and posting a throwback youtube video about Cassell, Maxwell, Hakeem etc once a couple of weeks doesn't exactly give people much confidence that you actually know what's been going on with the Rockets for the last 7 years or so (outside of Lin). No wonder you have to go back to talking about Pippen and Horry during their short Rockets days.
Beverley is an even easier case. Loved when Lin was around because Lin was around. Not exactly loved when Lin left because Lin left.
That is one of his weaknesses for sure. Compounded back a lack of a consistent role. But not solely due to it.
