My damn, this thread is evidence of the racism that still exists in America. The stereotypical crap being thrown around is disgusting. I find it hard to believe that some of you think this blatant racism is acceptable. This mindset is part of the reason why America suffers from horrendous racism, mainly from uneducated, sheltered and self-destructive men and women.

I hope this is another troll job by the usual suspects on the BBS. They can't be this delusional and hateful in daily settings, right?

Therapy is available for those of you who need help.

Another interesting realization to me is that racism has an independent problem aside from the moral one: intellectually, racism is stupid. And even if you don't care about the moral aspect of racism, you can still hate racism as intellectual garbage. Like in this thread, the worst pieces of writing are the ones expressing racist views, because racism is not intellectually defensible. So posters can get pissed off about posts made by racists simply because they are pieces of crap intellectually. If you go look at something like Hitler's "On Nation and Race," you'll see that his arguments are stupid: they could be defeated by an intelligent high schooler. Even if you don't care about Jews, you can say "Man, Hitler is a ****ty writer."

Forced segregation happened in Austin. It was real and it was and still very blatant.

Most liberal weird grassroots city in Texas...

Let's just wait for the gentrification of East Austin to complete and forget it ever happened.

I tried googling forced segregation in Austin, but couldn't find anything. What exactly are you referring to?

Basically I35 forms a barrier between whites and others.

If you were done, why did you post a poorly written essay here?

Today and for awhile now, I-35 in Austin is a economic barrier not a racial barrier. Movement is possible but purely based on economics.

Also looking at the maps in the article, it's not really a divide because the white people are everywhere. That is more cultural because minorities tend to stay in their communities while whites don't care, they'll move anywhere and just gentrify the area when they get there. Of course it's not all minorities and all whites that stay or go just something I've noticed as a minority myself.

Why the hell would anyone try to get gas in the ghetto at night? Nobody does that, not even the people living in the ghetto.

You're one of those zealots who honestly believe it's always racism's fault whenever an alleged black victim is involved, aren't you

There are a lot of racist posters on ClutchFans - not surprising when you look at YouTube comments though. People really out themselves as pretty open racists though, not just bigotexx and bigothegreat.

People excuse racial profiles ("If you have a beard and looked middle eastern, you will be watched more carefully at airports - so on an so forth").

The problem with racial profiling is two fold. First, it assumes that we should judge people on the way they look. In the airport security case - this is dangerous because bad guys can exploit that against a group.

The 2nd is that it reinforces and limits people. We know that blacks aren't as educated and don't get as good of an education - therefore when we see a black sounding resume, we're unconsciously judging that candidate more negatively than someone else. This is a real phenomenon.

People say they are not racist, but the reality is that many of the test show that it is likely that the vast majority of Americans have a bias against blacks.

I think it's good to admit that. But bigotexx for instance doesn't just have bias against black, he's pretty openly racist and proud of it.

Its always white men are racist, sexist, bigots, etc. Nowadays if you think that women earn same amount of money for same amount of work means you are sexist. Same thing with blacks, like only reason they commit crimes 5x more than other demographics is because they are poor. If any of you really cared about this subject and not just go "full white knight mode" you could actually watch things Thomas Sowell says, hes basically dismantled most of these claim since like 40years ago and is still going strong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_sGn6PdmIo

I watched the video. Sowell claims that when you adjust the statistics to equalize conditions such as marriage, education, etc., the perceived salary disparities between blacks whites and females disappear.

Sowell doesn't say anything about crime in the clip.

Sowell's not interested in the success rate of blacks, whites, or women. If very few black people finish law school, for example, he doesn't care. But if a black person does finish law school, then he'll compare that person's salary to an equivalent white person's salary. It's just a small intellectual victory that avoids the main point. That makes it a straw man argument.

The larger issue, which Sowell avoids, is that people like John Henson get obstacles and challenges thrown into their lives more frequently, and they can even be deadly, and why don't we care about that more than about a silly debating point, about whether a black MBA earns as much as a white MBA for example. So John Henson has this incident at the store, and Sowell's response would be, "Well, Henson's salary is the same as a white player's salary!"

First of this incident doesnt mean involved people are racist. You are reaching victim status. They might be slighty biased against black people since they commit 5x more crime in general than average demographic, but is that really racist or is that comfirmation bias? "He was black and they called the cops that means they are racist!" 1 =/= 2

Wait, did you just excuse police being "slightly more biased" against black people?

You might want to go back and check that. Not even that chart you tried to parade earlier says that Blacks commit more CRIME than Whites. Maybe certain specific crimes yes, but not overall like you keep saying.

Women are more educated than men - how is it they earn less?

LOL...no one is scared of Black people...just strapped knuckle-heads. I lived in the ghetto...government apartments to be exact...crack dealers in front entrance drinking 40's...pair of dice, snapping fingers n dollar bills...the whole 9 yds. And yes...you probably could stop at a gas station n fill up(usually just $5 worth, lol), but you knew you were taking a chance. When someone would get jacked, the conversation would be why that fool was at a gas station at 11:30 pm..."he know better than that!"...

The incident was a racist incident. The people saw a black man, and had no other information about him. They locked the doors, and ran to the back of the store.

They judged him based on his race. That's is an example of racism. People can try and makes excuses for the store owners/employees in order to try and deny the problem.

But it would be a lot more productive if they actually just addressed the problem.

Why some people want to make excuses for racism one can only guess.
