I want a surface book in a bad way. I wish I could convince my company to trade in my macbook retina for it.

It depends on how much you need the new pen.

My wife got a Surface Pro 3 a couple of months ago, and it blew my mind how good it is. I have a hard time believing I could spend $2000 on a Windows computer, but I think Microsoft is quietly killing it lately.

Very good stuff coming from them.

Been running a Surface Pro 3 for about a year (and about 4 months as my primary work machine running Photoshop, Illustrator and CAD) and it's been amazing. Friend just ordered a SurfaceBook which looks hella enticing but the SP3 does everything I need it to do and I appreciate Microsoft for futureproofing it (looking at you Samsung, Apple and Google) as well as seamlessly updating it to Windows 10 free of charge.

Funny that the iPad Pro turned out to be a joke while Microsoft is putting out the tablets to lust after. Some sort of bizarro tech world.

I've got a 2013 Macbook Pro. Always wanted a to switch back to Windows but was looking for an "ultrabook" in the loosest terms to come back to with good battery life and portability.

Is this the one? Should I pre-order?

See the review I posted above. It seems like it based on what I've read, but I'm questioning how it'll feel given the heavy weight in the "monitor". I'm imagining it could feel weird/unbalanced and want to wait until I can check it out in a store

Surface Pro 4 IS an ultrabook. It does everything the Book will do only lighter and cheaper. The only real difference is the Book has a discrete GPU if you do a lot of graphics/video processing or play heavy games. For 98% of the population, the SP4 is fine.

I've been using my SP3 for over a year now as my daily driver for both work and play. I've never looked back.

Same, having a tablet that can actually do a PC's job is incredible compared to toys like ipad

i5 or i7...what's the difference and is the leap to i7 worth the extra cost?

How fast are these chips in terms of GHz?

You only need I7 if you are running graphic/video editing apps like photoshop/premier or virtual machines. For everything else, it is overkill.

If you do graphics or gaming go with the book.

Most folks will do fine with the Pro.

The Book looks like it borrows quite a bit from the iPad Pro.

Did anyone pick up the Book?

If so, then how do you like it and do you recommend it or too many first gen issues?
