You seem to be ignorant of the fact that transpeople can use what they feel is the proper restroom across the nation and that there isn't a single case of your imaginary fears happening.

Doesn't surprise me though. A lot of people in this country are ruled by their imaginary fears.

(Honestly, I can think of liberalizing choices we've made in our nation's history that I would call mistakes or at least allege had some serious negative side-effects. But I can't really think of any that we as a society decided to take back or came to some sort of broad consensus that it was a bad choice. I can think of conservative choices that backfired that way -- prohibition, war on drugs -- but not liberal ones. If you've got one, that'd be interesting.)

Bobby, please advise when becoming more accepting of a peaceful group of people has backfired? In the history of humanity... when has giving equal rights to those with less rights turned out, in hindsight, to be a bad thing?

 

I am sure it has happened, "history" is a long time.

However I agree with the general sentiment, it can cause problems/growing pains early on, but ultimately it seems to benefit society in general.

 

This isn't about "equal rights", that's propaganda. It's about giving a group of mentally ill (and those who would use the ordinance as a loophole) men the right to use facilities that are allocated for the opposite sex.

Anyway, I know my audience and I don't expect much from you guys so feel free to keep embarrassing yourself on the subject.

Both of you should do your homework and then get back to me. If you don't realize that transsexualism and gender dysphoria are mental illnesses then you shouldn't attempt to comment on the subject.

It's "mental illness" because it causes anxiety. The appropriate approved treatment it to help them match external gender with internal perceived gender to reduce anxiety, such as using the restroom that they internally identify with. Social anxiety disorder is "mental illness". In the technical sense it has nothing to do with the pejorative way you use the term.

First of all, you said that it was about mentally ill MEN wanting to use restrooms. Again, as usual you are forgetting that transsexualism goes BOTH ways. Put in simpler terms, there are women that feel they are men too. Your previous post completely ignored that as you have ignored it all throughout this thread.

Of course not, that's one of Ottomaton's favorite cards to pull when he's been shut down and he knows it. This isn't the first time he's gone that route and he's not the only one to pull that card in online conversations as if it makes their weak position stronger.

 

Anyhow, I wonder if this is a religious issue.

I would expect some empathy for people who are transgendered rather than a lingering yet unsubstantiated suspicion that they're lying or crazy.

Let me make sure I understand. You think all this equal rights stuff in the ordinance -- like protections for military vets from discrimination in employment, or protection for blacks from housing discrimination -- all that is just a cover for the real motivation, and that real motivation is to figure out a way the city can force proprietors to allow mentally ill men into their ladies' rooms (willfully ignoring or maybe hoping that they will assault some little girls)? Is that what you're saying? That's the true but hidden purpose and intent of this ordinance?

Aside from that, I'm still awaiting the example of the last time some choice we've made blew up in our faces. Was it when we legalized gay marriage? Maybe when we legalized interracial marriage? Whatever it is, will Trump set it to rights when he takes back America?

 

How many hurricanes or earthquakes is it going to take before you realize that god doesn't want this stuff to happen?
