It's good that people here can now see and enjoy our resident white nationalist poster Jcee! Now, just ask him what he thinks about Jewish people lol...

The reality is, the greatest predictor of an individual's success is how much money their family has and the impact is getting worse every year. People that argue we're 50 years past the civil rights movement seem to ignore this.

All those policies have done their job of pushing down a generation of black people.

Back in the 70s and 80s, it was actually possible to work low wage jobs, and save money with maybe a little bit of government assistance. Now?

It's totally impossible. College? ridiculously expensive. UH in the 90s was like 2000 a semester (which is totally doable without loans), I bet its like 7-8 now.

The system is rigged. It used to be rigged on the basis of ethnicity, but now that black people are sufficiently disadvantaged, it's more money vs no money.

it's call inflation and also there's community colleges for less than $1k per semester if UH cost too much. in don't believe there are any laws that pushes a group of people down. there's poor people of all races

No a system can save all problems for each one. I thought a education is always a key for everyone.

inflation is around 2% a year, your numbers just don't add up (I actually want to say its less than 2% when you consider our zero interest rates and the fed flushing our system with cash via QE)

Compound 2% from 1999, it's not even close.

Check out the average basket of goods vs wage inflation, the bottom line is people are able to save a lot less now than they used to. And even if you are responsible and save, you are rewarded with 0 interest on your savings so the fed can lend money to banks and corporations shoring up their balance sheets.

There are plenty of laws from 1950 to now that have a disparate impact on people of different races. I listed a few for you a few posts back. Racism might be waning in our society, but the impacts and effects of past systematic racism is still very much here today. I don't know how people can deny this.

    Here's a link for you. http://www.cnbc.com/2015/06/16/why-college-costs-are-so-high-and-rising.html

Tuition has been outpacing inflation by about 6% year over year since 1971.

The tuition at Harvard is 45k today, if it was only rising at the rate of inflation the cost would be about 15k. That's a pretty big difference.

Other than graduating another batch of superior 'white collar' criminals that will make for good future episodes of American Greed, Harvard has nothing to offer than some stupid status quo. It's a POS just like all the other Ivy League BS.

add up the interest and let it compound since the 80s. what were the professors getting paid back then compare to now? what about all the added costs for them now compare to before? if it's too expensive, there's community colleges like I said. I have friends who have successful careers after community colleges and earning $100k. my family came here dirt poor after coming here from Vietnam but we worked hard and are doing good for ourselves now. not to mention all the scholarships and grants that are only eligible for minorities excluding Asians. I'm not saying the system is perfect but people need to be responsible for themselves and work hard to achieve what they want in life especially being in America

Last time I was in Sugarland, I didn't notice an overwhelming asian population.

And SW area near chinatown/Alief has always been mixed ever since I was a little kid.

Government-backed students loans is what caused the skyrocketing tuition.

The government handed out loans to everybody. Schools keep raising tuition because they know they can get the money from the government.

So the prices continue to go up and up.

What started with good intentions (government-backed loans) has spiraled out of control and made college more expensive for everybody.

People who would have been able to afford college 30 years ago wouldn't be able to afford it today, and they to would need loans. So now the prices are rising because more loans are being given out, and now more people need loans due to the rising prices.

Man, you American people have issues.
It seems to me as an outsider that you rather blame and accuse each other than hate really.
This political correctness will tear you apart. OK, it's stereotype. But how do you get racism from this that is beyond me.

I apologize if Iam being ignorant.

It's actually fairly easy to refute. Your social standing has everything to do with the amount of money you were born into, not your race. You only have to look at the wealth distribution of other countries compared to the wealth distribution against the United States since 1950.

In England for instance, the disparity is actually larger, even though the population is more homogenous. this and several other examples paint a pretty clear picture.

The argument you should be making is an argument for an inheritance tax. Lumping race into an argument it shouldn't be a part of just hurts your argument more.

    No, it really isn't.

Aside from some areas inside the Beltway, Houston is pretty integrated. The most racially integrated major city in the United States. Check out Houston, and then go look at other major cities like Dallas, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, etc.
