That's the most asinine thing I've seen about this thing.

When were they ever enforceable? Entry into bathrooms isn't regulated by proprietors. It's regulated by social pressure.

I guess McNair and Berkman are also against protecting the rights of our military vets...

Review this guy's nonprofit status. Most of it I'm fine with. Political issues are also theological issues. I'd give churches a lot of latitude. If he only said the ordinance was ungodly or unwise or opposed to God's law, I'd have no problem with it. But, he also includes a very specific call to action for congregants who live in Houston to vote no on the ordinance. I'm not a lawyer, but I can't think of a way you can transgress further into the political sphere than to give election directives from the pulpit to congregants.

Don't want vets going into the wrong bathroom now.

    Well...... I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I suspect that 20 years from now people will look at it and roll their eyes at the then dead Dr. Ed Young.

Of course not, but pointing out unintended consequences of short sighted "feel good" government action is never going to be popular among those who support the ordinance.

It's not called "The Bathroom Ordinance" for one thing.

    Yeah.

    1. Prop 1 is not a bathroom ordinance.
    2. Prop 1 doesn't mean a man can go into a woman's bathroom, because that's already the case today.

Otherwise, I'd call it misleading and panic-mongering and not terribly realistic, but I suppose those attributes are for each of us to decide on our own.

Yes, because a sexual predator is just waiting for bathroom laws to change so that he can be a sexual predator. I can imagine some old mangy guy just patiently waiting for his chance

It's funny that you still don't think or have addressed the other side of this. That women that look like males are going into female bathrooms and males that look like women are going into male restrooms.

Just that creepy men are going to walk into women's restrooms as if anything is stopping them from doing that now.

That's the hilarious thing about this.

Also the idea that someone (As this ad imagines) that is willing to sexually prey on a young girl is going to respect any law at all.

No one said that they were "waiting" to do this, just that why wouldn't they use a law protecting their right to hang out in women's restrooms? Sure the law is meant for trannies but since they are actually men, and there is equal protection, you let those men use women's facilities (not just restrooms) you are establishing a right for all men to use women's facilities if they say that they are a woman.

As to "nothing stopping them from doing so now" that's not true, have a man head to a gym and try to walk into the women's dressing room and you'll be stopped and thrown out....if this passes and a man does the same thing, the gym can be fined for preventing men from walking into the women's dressing room.

It's just an example of a well intentioned, but short sighted and kind of stupid feel good measure.

This will be a good social experiment for you. After the ordinance passes, go into a public woman's restroom. Report back on how everyone reacts and what happens. If you want, you can do it repeatedly and see if you can goad companies into getting fines as a sort of guerrilla war on 'the bathroom ordinance.' My guess is that whoever is in there will inform you you're in the wrong place, that every woman who enters will ask what you're doing in there, you might have a store's employee ask your gender (for this experiment, you should claim to be a woman), everyone will leave and no one will use the bathroom, someone might call the cops, and an enterprising woman (citizen or employee) might wait in the bathroom with you (or just outside to ward people away) until you're gone. Your only opportunity to commit a crime will be if you pick a bathroom in a very low-traffic area -- but you'd have that same opportunity today.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure there will be plenty of instances of things like that happening if the ordnance passes. I personally don't care enough about it one way or the other, I don't live inside Houston city limits and if people are stupid enough to vote for something like that, they deserve the unintended consequences.

Except everywhere with similar ordinances, people can't find any cases of that happening.

For someone who doesn't care, it's kind of odd that you have the most posts in this thread, don't you think?

To be fair to Bobby...that is pretty much the case with every thread he posts in.

Bobby why do you think this guy is allowed to use the women's restroom and post selfies there? Do you think women freak out whenever he goes into a restroom?

I'm glad to hear you won't be voting in Houston municipal elections. You seem like a Fort Bend man. Can you let me know if you'll be staying out of Harris County voting too?
