And no telling how old the Falcon was to begin with - We know Han didn't get it new, he 'won' it from Lando while gambling.. and there's no reason to think Lando got it new either, since he is as much of a 'scoundrel' as Han.. that kind of junker could well be a couple hundred years old, if you think about it. Technology being so advanced, there's no reason to think 'planned obsolescence' would be built into things anymore. Ships like the Falcon were probably a tinkerer's dream, constantly modified and upgraded over time. 'Fastest ship in the galaxy'.. 'Don't worry Kid, I've made a few special modifications myself' (whereupon blasters emerge from the underbelly and starting fragging Imperial troops) I wouldn't dare to try to guess the Falcon's age, but I bet she is older than anyone in the movies, save maybe Yoda.. Same deal with the X-Wings.. the main thing about the X-Wings is that they have hyper-drives, which was almost unheard of for a ship that small. And historically they were always admired and sought-after because they were such a finely-designed craft. No doubt they would hang onto as many of them as they could for as long as they could.
It's a fair question. Chewy only recognizes him if he sees him in that outfit. It's a scruffy nerfherder thing.
Yup, he's the only other one wielding a lightsaber too, while Rey just has her bo staff. I wonder if he learns from Luke
I think Seinfeld has a bit about how guys always stick with whatever was fashionable the year they got married. Because at that point, they stop caring. So they just stay with that for the rest of their lives.
I like that we still have questions after the trailer came out. Don't know how many trailers spoil the entire movie with 3 minutes of video. Of course the Stars Wars franchise can afford to keep us in the dark because it doesn't matter what they produce butts will still be in the seats.
haha @ Hans fashion. I think it's different enough from his clothes in the OT, but the brown leather a little too close to Indiana Jones maybe? As far as who is the jedi of Rey or Finn. My prediction has always been Rey. Even after they showed Finn wielding a lightsaber in the trailers or poster. I think that's what they want us to think but Finn just finds himself in a situation where he has to use the lightsaber that he is holding or taking to Rey OR he has it because he took it from a hurt or dead jedi killed by Kylo. Anyone can use a lightsaber. You don't have to be a jedi to fight with it. I think it's pretty easy to see Rey might be a Skywalker as she is very similar looking to Natalie Portman(padme) in build and in facial features and seems to have a strong, independent personality much like Padme. Considering the OT is about Luke and also considering he is the only Jedi left after ROTJ(trained. Leia wouldn't have had Rey and abandoned her somewhere in the desert lol and i doubt Leia ever learned to use the force beyond sensing Luke's presence), its easy to assume the next story will carry on the Skywalker name and Luke passed on his force ability in his offspring(remember there is no jedi counsel to tell him love is forbidden so he's free to bang whoever he wants). Rey is the obvious candidate...being white and similar in looks to Padme. My only prediction for Finn if he is actually going to end up a Jedi is that Luke finds him at a young age and realizes he's strong with the force. He takes him in and raises him/trains him as his padawan. "I was raised to do one thing, and i've got nothing to fight for" doesn't sound like a Luke trained padawan though, unless he's going dark and Finn ends up the one falling to the dark side which of course in todays world would be racist, so there's no chance of that. If Mace Windu survived, he'd be way too old to have a very young teenage son and it also would go against everything Mace was as a character to have sex. As far as clone of Mace. Why clone Mace? Why not clone all the highest ranking Jedi? They sure could have been used in the OT. But again, too much time has gone by and even if they made these clones age slowly, they'd still be too old and not teens like Finn. Could Luke have found dead Jedi's bodies and tried to clone them to rebuild the Jedi order? Doubt it. He most likely jsut went out in the world and left Rey to be raised by a trusted friend while he searched the galaxy for potential force users to rebuild the Jedi order and that is where Finn ties in as a Jedi. Luke goes missing and so Finn tracks down his daughter, Rey and then begins their adventure. Just my predictions....i doubt i'm anywhere close to what happens. For all we know Kylo Ren could be the Skywalker offspring with the apparent obsession with Vader. Daddy issues? Luke abandoned him to rebuild the jedi order and Kylo goes to the darkside with anger and daddy/abandonment issues? Hates Jedi for it? A lot of the same issues Anakin had. Who knows what's going to happen, but i just can't freaking wait.
I don't think Finn or Rey will be related at all to Han and Leia. From what we know, it sounds like Finn will be the main character, and will end up stirring Rey into the adventure, and they'll then end up being involved with Han and Leia who are still part of the rebels because of Finn's situation.
@Caesar: You say why clone Mace instead of the highest-ranked jedis. He was one of the most highest-ranked and most legendary Jedi during his lifetime.
What I'm most curious about is/ are the lineages of Rey and Kylo Ren whose last names are intentionally absent. JJ Abrams has stated that no new protagonists are a Solo or a Skywalker but he has lied about details before i.e. Star Trek and Khan not being in the new film. The speculation on the interwebs is Kylo is the grandson of the Darth Sidious hence making him a Palpatine. My question is why noone is postulating if Rey is indeed the heir to Palpatine?
I know he was, he was second only to Yoda. I said the other members of the counsel. As in why JUST Mace. Might as well clone them all.
To add to that....the opening line in the trailer is "Who are you?" And a female voice (with Rey walking in the background says) "I'm nobody." The question of her identity is batting leadoff in that trailer.
Ah sorry, read it wrong. Maybe because he was the only black person left in their Universe at that time?
Rey being seduced to the dark side is certainly the most popular rumor out there... its now gathering more steam with the way she's featured in the poster. Anybody else catch that planet with a death-star like gun on it on the poster?
Never looked at it before, doesn't seem like a planet, more like a new Death Star (huge trench and all grey, definitely not a planet).
