I know you're not joking. That's what's so funny. Calling a national champion barely a college QB.

    Josh Heupel

    Ken Dorsey

    Craig Krenzel

    Matt Mauck

    Chris Leak

    Matt Flynn

    Tim Tebow

    Greg McElroy

    A.J. McCarron

What do all of them have in common? They all were better college QB's than Cardale Jones who won national championships in college and weren't legitimate NFL QB prospects.

have you watched Cardale at all this year? He has looked terrible more than anything, honestly Ohio State is lucky to still be undefeated this year(their defense is very good, so is Elliott). Cardale will get drafted but I hope not by us. He's not an NFL QB

Well you did call him barely a college level QB. He's barely a top 10 tier school level QB, but he would be starting for a majority of other college teams.

I think he'd struggle to hold on to his starting job on a lot of college teams because most college teams aren't stacked enough to bail him out quite like Ohio State has.

What does that have to do with anything? Those guys were better college QBs than Aaron Rodgers too. College and Pros can be very different for QBs with the proliferation of the spread option and air raid offenses. A pro style QB is not necessarily going to be the best guy to run an option offense.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that a lesser pro prospect be a better college QB depending on the system. Put Peyton Manning with Eric Crouch at Nebraska and Crouch still probably wins the job because the offense suits his skill set better.

That's not to say Jones reputation shouldn't take a hit, but his benching doesn't change the fact that he's still a better pro prospect than JT Barrett.

The Cardale Jones that just got benched. Yeah he's NFL ready for show.

The bad news for him is that I don't really see an NFL position he could even transition into, I mean maybe TE? I just don't see it, he'll be playing in Canada before long I'd bet.

Someone may take a flyer on Cardale in late 2nd round but honestly see him going in the mid 3rd to late 4th round.

either Canada or coaching somewhere. There are clearly 3 QBs in college that are better NFL prospects coming out this year than Jones

    Goff
    Cook
    Lynch

Those are the top tier QB prospects. Nothing to run home about, but this is a weak class overall sans a few positions(WR, DL, G, T)

Jones falls in the same tier as the Hack, Driskell, Brisett(NCST QB, idk how to spell his name), and Kessler.

Honestly I only see Goff having 'great QB' potential, although Paxton Lynch is very intriguing, he made some great throws against Ole Miss who has quite a few future NFL players on their D.

The QB I really like is Brad Kaaya from the U, seems like he's trying to be Manning-lite, but he's still got one more year of school, and unfortunately he's got some questionable coaching in Golden

Funny how people fail to mention that Cardale had already thoroughly thrashed Penn St. before he got benched. I believe the score was like 21-3.

That report was nothing related to that.

[rQUOTEr]J.T. Barrett will start at quarterback for Ohio State against Rutgers on Saturday, coach Urban Meyer told reporters Tuesday.

Meyer called the switch from Cardale Jones a "difficult decision" but attributed his decision to how Barrett played last week.

"Just sheer production," Meyer said. "Cardale is going to be a very active part. Hopefully we'll keep him very much involved. It was a difficult decision, but the red-zone production and third-down production were the two areas that made the difference. [Barrett] earned that with the way he played Saturday."

Barrett's 83.3 red zone completion percentage is more than 50 percentage points higher than Jones', according to ESPN's Stats & Information. In the past two weeks, Barrett has been almost flawless in the red zone, leading the Buckeyes to scores on all 12 possessions, with touchdowns on 11 of them.

Barrett ran for 102 yards on 11 carries in last weekend's 38-10 win over Penn State, scoring two touchdowns in the red zone in the first half and throwing two TD passes in the fourth quarter. Jones started the game but was only 9-for-15 for 84 yards, and was benched in favor of Barrett in the second half.

"There is disappointment," Meyer said of the quarterbacks' reaction to the decision, "but they're grown men, both of them are."

Meyer said he was unsure what role Jones would play but anticipated it would be similar to the one Barrett had played.

"Whether it's doing what J.T. did as far as keeping and staying into the game, coaching J.T., I expect Cardale will be very similar in his role as J.T," Meyer said. "Now, not necessarily in the red zone, we'll make those decisions and see how he practices this week."[/rQUOTEr]

The culture shock of going from running that offense to an NFL offense will be too much for him IMO. As it has been for many AirRaid QBs.

Congrats on having the dirtiest program in CFB by the way. Looking forward to the NCAA cracking down on that crooked system!

Russell juking defenders for a nice TD run. Don't underestimate his running ability. That's what makes him so interesting to me.

You sound salty. Tell your coach to stop worrying about pool parties and get back to work.

Is Greg Ward Jr. a legitimate NFL prospect?

Probably not at QB. But maybe as a punt returner/WR.
