So you think rich people go shopping in a tuxedo and top hat?

    You're obviously a homeless bum.

Whatever happened to using logical discretion. I don't know like looking at the person's attire, what type of car they are driving, what are they interested in buying, 6,10 unassuming black man in a very nice car, person's not asking for any money or seems to be carrying weapon, how the person smells, how clean the person looks, or DOESN"T FIT THE DESCRIPTION of the ROBBER from the last robbery or any other robbery reports.

I also didn't know that you needed certain type of clothes to shop in jewelry store. Restaurants, I understand and usually put up such signs or have it labeled on their websites.

This is why online shopping is MUCH BETTER, and you can avoid local, sub-standard business with possible unethical practices.

Also to the posters that suggest that the business is right to racially or socially profile it's customers...certain customer. Deny them business or service. Shouldn't they put up some type of disclaimer to warn about profiling practices to avoid any customer harassment, future lawsuits, police involvement, and even deterring possible criminals who figure they won't be able to easily steal things from the store.

I skimmed this thread but didn't see it posted.

Here is video of thieves robbing this same jewelry store last year:

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/d9XCsDgiras" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So I can understand if they are a little cautious and misunderstandings can happen.

Also, it's not rare for jewelry stores to keep the doors locked and will only let you in if you have an appointment and they will buzz you in. That's how it is at the jewelry store I go to.

I mean they are selling thousands and thousands of dollars worth of merchandise that can fit inside of a small bag... they aren't selling groceries.

Has it been proven that race played a role?

No we dont know how he was dressed...I agree...but he more than likely wasn't dressed for Sunday service which incited the store workers to overreact. Of course I know where Black Lives Matter came from...my reference to it was in reply to the poster who made mention that this is a simple "Human" thing which is true and which I wish would be applied across the board in all facets including law enforcement engagement with African Americans because in fact ALL Lives REALLY Do Matter...

Are you afraid of all males now (they weren't females), or do you just focus on race?

There are a lot of dumbasses in this thread who do not know it is illegal to deny service to people based on the color of their skin or car.

Car, no. Race (or any other Title VII and/or local statute protected characteristic), yes.

Well, for the car you need an established rule, such as "No service to cars without mufflers!" You can't just say "Hey, I don't like your pimpmobile. I'm locking you out."

It's kind of shocking that some of these posters do not even know what illegal discrimination is.

Supposedly, it doesn't matter because the store went on lockdown over suspicions about the car, right? Or are you saying you don't believe the story about the dealer plates and it was profiling all along?

So wait, are people upset that employees were overly cautious after receiving suspicious phone calls and thinking the vehicle parked out front of their store was the same one used in a previous armed robbery (with matching dealer plates)?

IF that is what happened, how can you get upset at the store owner/employees? I guess I could argue that they were too vigilant in their effort to stay safe, but then again I've never been held up at gunpoint before.

Obviously if they locked down the store and called the cops because they saw a black guy, that's nuts and bad. But that doesn't seem to be the case here. Unless there's some new developments I haven't heard yet.

If I get bit by a couple pit bulls, you bet your a$$ i am going to worry about a couple pits in a friends back yard....lol

same with peeps...if a couple rednecks jumps on someone, I would expect that person to be extra cautious if another couple rednecks roll up...just human nature.

Lol, wearing a baseball hat (Forward mind you), a t-shirt, and a jacket is suspicious...if you are black that is.

That's about as casual as it gets man.

You STILL FAIL to read dont' you? My god.
HIS CAR WAS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY SUSPICIOUS ROBBERIES. He was out of the store three days before HIMSELF and that's when the police run his plates the first time and the suspicious part was that it was dealer's plates.

NOW EXPLAIN why the store wanted the police man to stand by while Henson after having identified himself was browing the watches?

Henson not only dresses as a middle class 20 smth american but also has the face of a 14 y.o and always smiles is always very polite and nice.

There are not suspicious photos of him because he doesnt' look suspicious at all.
The only danger he poses are to the Chipotles he visits every day.

You on the other hand, seem to be a very unstable person a racist a sexist, who is excusing not only race profilling but also gang bang raping in another thread, and a red flag public danger after having profilled your posts from the forum.

I sometimes call a store and ask when they close. Is that suspicious? I even ask about their inventory. Does that make you "omg"? Is Henson even the one who called the store? How would they know?

If Henson were a white lady driving the same car, the same thing would have happened? The store employees, noticing her vehicle model and license plate, would become suspicious, lock the door, and call the police. The white lady would not be a well-known NBA athlete like Henson, but she would still be allowed into the store eventually, and the store employees would ask the police to stay and watch her while she looked at Rolexes. The police, to their credit, would refuse.
The police were better than the store in this case. The police responded to a call. They figured out the situation. They took off.

The store was merely afraid, because of Henson's appearance. They would have responded differently to a white lady. The most you can say is, well maybe an African-American male called the store, and some other African-American males had robbed it before. Even if those are true--and I have no idea about the phone calls--you can't discriminate on that basis.

In the USA, most mass murderers and assassins are single white men. But you can't go assuming every single white man is a nutcase on that basis.

And you can't tell African-American men to stop acting so "black" or whatever. You're saying "Why can't you just act in a way that I don't find scary?" It's you who are scared. I'm not black, but I'm a man, and sometimes out running, for example, a passing woman jogger might be afraid of me, out in the middle of nowhere. But she can't say to me "Why can't you just stop scaring me?" How am I supposed to do that?
