I am extremely protective of what my children watch (probably overprotective), and my 5-year old will be attending opening night with the rest of my family. Really the only inappropriate parts of the entire franchise IMO are some of the darker moments in Ep III.
Okay, here's the deal. The powers that be are conspicuously making Luke Skywalker absent and that's stirring up a ton of chatter. On the other hand, Entertainment Weekly released and official photo of Mark Hamill dressed as Luke Skywalker from the up and coming movie.
absolutely not. my 5 (will be 6 in april) year old son knows the whole stories. Sadly a bigger fan of the prequels, but I think the prequels do play better to that age bracket.
I feel the same. I'm going to have to put myself in quarantine to keep away from spoilers and plot leaks. I never understood the fascination with wanting to know everything about a movie before actually seeing the movie.
No way! Mine are 4 and can't wait. They watch IV, V, and VI in the car and watch Star Wars Rebels on the Disney Channel. They are FANATICS constantly running around the house with their light sabers and Darth Vader masks saying "Daddy, I am your father." THE CIRCLE IS NOW COMPLETE.
GOT MY TICKETS! My older cousin (born 1968, gave me ALL of his original Star Wars action figures) is even coming into town so that he can see it with me and my sister. I can't believe how excited I am.
I heard someone postulate that the voice saying that is Leia, not the new girl. I'll be honest, it's been so long since I've heard Carrie Fisher speak I can't really say if that's her or not.
Yeah. The story I heard is that Luke has become reclusive because he's become so powerful with the Force he's fearful that what happened to his father will happen to him. What I don't get is that 20+ years later, they are still using X-Wing & Tie fighters and that the Millennium Falcon is still able to "fly". I find this to be a bit illogical but this may have been answered in the Star Wars Rebels cartoon series which I've never seen. All-in-all it looks like typical JJ Abrams fare. It's gorgeous to look at but the story may be a bit too simplistic for my tastes although I'm certain my grandkids will be squealing when we all go to see it.
That was my initial thought as well. TBH, I'm very afraid that I won't be able to get past Carrie Fisher's "poor aging" and recent substance abuse/psych issues. Far more concerned about her than Harrison Ford portraying a geriatric Han (and likely doing it poorly... based on his recent run at reviving Indy). Then again, if JJ Abrams is actually able to convince people that she's still Princess Leia... that would be more miraculous than simply erasing the bad taste of the prequels.
1. Star Wars Rebels is placed between Episodes 3&4. 2. Why would it be weird that they use the same jets 20 years later? You don't see a complete overhaul of army craft every 20 years in reality. And to add, their technology is far more advanced, so it's highly doubtful they develop new ships in that short time period. Same with Millennium Falcon, why can't they repair it and what makes you think the short period of 20 years is deadly?
