If you agree ppl should be profiled (based on their attire, race etc) then YOU are the problem. If I were middle eastern & muslim, and this store owner assumed I was a terrorist based on my appearance, would y'all condone this?

So you just profiled people with different opinion as the problem. Congratz on your mental gymnastics.

The store owners and management have every right to close the doors on whichever customer they want if they suspect anything - WHite, black, yellow. It doesn't matter

It's their prerogative to ensure that their employees are in a safe working environment and if they suspect someone to be suspicious, they can do what they want.

Henson should have dressed properly like a cultured millionaire instead of wearing hood rat clothes and he would have been just fine. Similarly if a WHite guy dresses like a homeless bum, chances are store owners get suspicious.

Like it or not, a lot of people are judged by their appearance in public.

Fear makes people react in such cowardly ways ....and say the stupidest things. If you are scared of two men of any race walking down a street or looking a certain way then I say grow a pair you Pu$$y.

Im sure you have never been in Henson shoes.....or you wouldn't speak with such ignorance. Empathy may not be appropriate but sympathy should. Why should he conform to your standards of dress? I'm sure you have plenty to say about the gay community also if you are spewing this garbage.

If this were true, then why is it "Black Lives Matter" and not, ALL Lives Matter?

Look the truth is it sucks to be profiled for any reason...but reality is, them folks were scared...I'm guessing Mr. Henson wasn't in his Sunday suit.. so yes they incorrectly judged him...it was embarrassing for him I am sure. But most folks understand there is a chance to be profiled if you allow yourself to stick out...don't dress like you going to the local Hustle Town Nite Club playing some Chopped N Screwed Rap...folks are gonna look...they will judge...is it fair? No...but these sterotypes exist nonetheless! So we can change it by changing our image...it will take time...but we gotta stop fighting and complaining about everything...it is only creating more turmoil.

This thread is further proof that Openlayup needs to be ignored.

At least be creative with your trolling like Honeybear

You're an idiot. First of all anyone who's worked in any financial sector can probably tell you that millionaires don't "dress a certain way". Matter of fact, when I was a personal banker the people who came through in the flashiest attire were usual the most broke ones. There is no "look". It's people like you that remind me that it doesn't matter what my race does, you will always find a way to justify the treatment some of us receive. The good thing is as time goes on people like you are becoming extinct. And thank god for that

Thank you for this well thought out and supported post. I knew people would jump to conclusions before hearing out the other side because of our modern "crucify now, justice later" approach in our twitter culture.

He should probably thank the store for keeping him from making a bad purchase.

    What was he dressed like?

And do you really not know where the Black Lives Matters slogan came from, or why it came about?

Let's take another racist approach. The employees of the jewelry store all saw "30 for 30 Broke" and took their actions so John Henson wouldn't end of broke 10 yrs from now. Plus one for the jewelry. Hurray!!!

I think we should all start stereotyping white males too though.

With how many mass shootings they are responsible they should be checked before going into any university, theater, or any where really. At this point it is a matter of time before one of these white males sneaks into a NBA stadium and shoots up the place.

I agree with Honey Bear here and white people need to stand up and tell these people to stop. When will white america take responsibility for their actions.
