For real? That would be interesting. I've looked around at numerous "stretch four" numbers and I did not come to that conclusion. Esp. if you start looking for stretch fours who can defend. Draymond Green only shot 32% from three for instance. I will have to look that video up.

pfs only shoot 3s if they can (unless you're josh), whereas for every steph curry there'll be a russell westbrook or 3

With all due respect, Josh Smith is a defensive monster. And he did shoot the 3 for us. But....Smith's ability to defend paint and the rim...off the charts.

Check out his rebounding percentages in the post season last year. He was the worst rebounding big in the post season.

So was Harden's. Does that mean Harden is a good defender? Get real. Watch the games. You have to watch the games. You can't simply look at a number on a ream of data and say he knows how to play defense. For your information everyone on the floor around Dwight gets good defensive ratings. But take Dwight off the floor and guys are exposed. And when you get to the playoffs where Terrence is forced to matchup against quality bigs his defensive deficiencies are even worse. His defense stats would have been negative across the board last post season if not for him getting significant run against Big Baby Davis, the one big who may be worse than him. And we already seen him get totally owned by the Blazers the year before. And we seen him lose his starting slot in this last post season. Why do you think he lost his starting slot to JSmoove? Was it because his defense was so good? Nope. It was because he was giving up too much. Gotta watch the games. Don't know what else to say here. Gotta watch the games.

His percentage has increased incrementally as he has shot less and less 3's. LOL. We are reliant on shooting open 3's. His unwillingness to shoot them has forced James into forcing way too many late shot-clock shots and us losing possessions through turnovers because he didn't simply put up the wide open look he was given. You can't even measure how much that hurts the offense without going back and tracking every play result when he turned down an open 3.

And the truth is...he made the right play turning down the open 3. Because he knows (as some of us know) that if he jacks a high number of 3's that his accuracy is going in the toilet. Just like it did in the post season last year.

Because Terrence crumbles under pressure. He does not play well under pressure. And that is the baseline that has been established long ago. Put him under the gun and he poos the bed. Dare him to shoot? He's gonna miss way too many. ISO him up and make him defend iso after iso? He's gonna fold. Put an aggressive defender on him and he's gonna cough it up or get rid of it like it's a hot potato. That is what Terrence is. He's just another player.

    Neither does DMO.

Doesn't shoot the 3 in volume even when he's the second player who is ignored by defences below the three point line, in ALL THE FREAKING LEAGUE. The second most open player.

Doesn't play top notch defence against opposing bigs. (bad rim protection, can't challenge shots)

    Rebounding= lol

So both suck by your standards.

We don't know why Josh Smith left. I don't buy the explanation he gave. People aren't always extremely forthcoming about such things.

I believe he left because he was insulted we were making him wait for KJ, and I would not blame him for that reason. Perhaps we could have done more to show him how much he was valued.

The fact that we didn't makes me wonder if he was valued. If he wasn't, that is really perplexing, b/c I find him way better than TJones & we will have to pay TJones like $15M at the end of the year.

Perhaps that's what you concluded from your observation, but the stats all say otherwise. The stats supporting my assertion were in a thread from way back when, but I suck at searching for threads.

Of course so his "feelings" were so hurt ok that makes a ton of sense when the latter is obviously right Infront of you.

He should be even more insulted then since he has to play on a minimum contract. It's not that hard. He wants clear minutes. He's always been that type of player

No the stats do not say otherwise especially the current JS. Looks like another example of people wanting to see what they want to see but it's clearly not the truth

DMo, up until now, has sucked at rebounding. No doubt about that one. And I don't think he'll ever be a plus rebounder. I don't think he'll ever learn to bend his knees and lower his center of gravity enough to really box out guys good and become a plus rebounder.

However.....he is a quality big man defender. He's a much better man defender and scheme defender than Terrence is. DMo has the size and girth to defend against power bigs and he's smarter than Terrence in pick and roll action and a much better defender in space. No, he's not a shot-blocking machine. But neither is Terrence. Terrence is an opportunist weak-side shot blocker who gets his blocks off guys avoiding Dwight. But that doesn't make up for all the plays where Terrence gets worked. DMo is a much better defender than Terrence. He manned down the 5-spot for us even when he's not really a 5. Terrence can't defend 5's at all. Robin Lopez dominates Terrence when Terrence is matched up against him and Robin Lopez can't do anything offensively besides a gangly, caddy-wampus hook shot and clean up garbage. But he dominates Terrence, just pins him down underneath and steals his lunch money on the offensive glass.

I could continue to go down through the list. Zach...dominates Terrence. Zach cannot dominate DMo. DMo takes Zach's contact and holds his ground.

I'm not going to go any further here. If you think that DMo isn't a quality defender against opposing bigs simply because he's not a skywalker that blocks shots then you haven't watched him play defense. There's a lot more to playing defense than blocking shots. Blocking shots is a very poor gauge of defense in and of itself. You should know that.

Needless to say, DMo is a plus defender. He's not plus by very much. Just slightly above average. But nevertheless he's a plus defender.

Shooting is the key here for DMo. If he continues what he started last season shooting from the 3-point line and improving then he'll be a really, really good player. If he doesn't, and he continues to dwaddle in the low 30's on his 3-ball and last season was just an aberration then he will become just another big, because his lack of 3-point shooting plus his subpar rebounding will limit his overall effectiveness and minutes. But DMo did show a good uptick (right along with his playing minutes increase) in his 3-point shooting. And that all points upward. Mechanically he's solid. He's needed to add more knee-bend to get more arc in his shot. But other than that his footwork, base, arms, and release are all on-point. That's drastically different than Terrence. Terrence needs major mechanical adjustment for him to develop into a plus 3-point shooter that can confidently catch it and shoot it instead of constantly avoiding taking the shot.

As far as shooting the 3 in volume............DMo shoots the 3 about 60-80% more than Terrence does given equivalent minutes and touches. DMo has the confidence to take the shot. And the mechanics are there. It's simply a matter of him being comfortable in game situations. We saw the beginnings of that last year. He'll either go up or down and this year will tell the story on DMo. No doubt about it. I'm pretty sure he's gonna rise provided he stays healthy. And I'm pretty sure we're gonna have to match a max contract offer from somebody provided he stays healthy and we don't trade him.

So technically for me the jury is still out on DMo. I see a lot more upside to DMo than I do Terrence. Terrence cannot change his size and length. And Terrence has not changed the core of his shot mechanics, which is what needs to be changed for him to become a plus shooter.

My indicators point up for DMo. And I think he's gonna wind up being our starter at the 4 and the best 4 on the team. I think he's going to improve his 3-point shooting from last season. But...I'm still somewhat skeptical until I see it. Terrence, on the other hand, I've seen enough of. I know what he is.

As I said earlier, I feel that after the rib injury he was playing tentative, scared to re-injure those ribs. He was a poor rebounder in the regular season after the rib injury too. He was fine before that.

I thought Harden was an average defender last year. Much like TJones actually. I watch every game.

Smith was just as bad if not worse defensively than Jones in the playoffs. Straight up trash, he would get lost and wouldn't even try. And offensively he was terrible in the Clippers series, McHale moving him to the starting lineup seemed like a move to benefit Josh to be honest.

Jones's three point attempts per game last three seasons: 1.0, 1.3, 1.1.

Don't really see that decrease but alright.

Stuff like this is why nobody likes you. Just trashing what's supposed to by your own guy. Don't know many people that call themselves "Rockets fans" that would say something like this about someone on the team.

Jones attempts have decreased per minutes played and per possession. That's the key data to know what he's doing with the ball when he gets it.

No, I think people are going with what is aesthetically pleasing. TJones getting owned by the best PFs in consecutive post seasons is ugly. DMo flashing his beautiful post game and hitting behind the arc at good clip for big man is pretty. Despite DMo having all the potential, he's only flashed it but that's enough for most of your average fan to confirm his potential.

I just think TJones fits more alongside Harden as someone who operates well without the ball. DMo seems like a perfect 6th man for how this team is constructed.

He left over playing time as he took less money to play with the Clippers. Clippers are thin at the wing position and I imagine JSmoove will be playing some 3.

As I said before, I don't buy that. He may have said that, but that doesn't mean that's true - or the only reason. Playing at the 3 is speculation.

Despite all the negativity about Jones from a lot of posters I feel he should flourish playing alongside Lawson and Harden because of his ability to finish above the rim and the same goes for Capela and Howard. Jones missed 49 games last season and many people forget that. The stupid hate on this kid is gotten so ridiculous in here its become just plain comical.

You guys don't know **** about ****, Zach Randolph beat the ever living **** out of DMo every time he's played him. Its very memorable because I can vividly remember Randolph elbowing DMo in the neck and DMo not doing ahit about it. Randolph didn't try that with Jones. I'm not understanding where yoi people see that DMo is a better defender, because he's taller? DMo is a turnstile against centers and an automatic blow by against quicker pfs. I'm starting to hope Jones gets traded just so he can comae back and drop 40 on DMo so you idiots can shut up about who is better. This ain't Carl Landy and Luis Scola, Terrence Jones is the best power forward on this team. He's not injured now and has been killing it during the summer and in the preseason and you people still can't see it. I'm seriously starting to think this is black and white

he never said anything to begin with. obviously you haven't even followed the situation close enough to even warrant a valid theory but you want to believe his "feelings" were butthurt like hes a little kid.
