DeAndre is on track to obliterate any season AJ ever had.

    Come on ya'll.

Stafford's mediocre now, but he still has a hell of an arm and the other guy is Kurt Warner. Who's in "etc"?

I can't argue with that statistically, and it's a nice feather in our hat for what's probably an 8-8ish season, which was sadly Andre's curse too. It's still unnecessary to praise DeAndre by denigrating Andre.

Nobody's denigrating anybody... if you think that, you've still got your Andre Johnson colored glasses on.

What DeAndre is doing is impressive and unprecedented in Texans history.

If he keeps up the pace hell have a better than Andre's best, but I was arguing with "much better."

I mean to be "much better" than 1550 yards and 9 TDs he basically has to be peak Calvin Johnson

Yeah.... nothing to say he won't, unless teams go out of their way to try and stop him (which should open up the offense for others).

It would also be the sort of secondary attention that even with Andre at his best, teams rarely sold out to stop him.

Andre Johnson through his first 3 seasons:
    45 games
    208 catches
    2,806 yards
    12 touchdowns

DeAndre Hopkins so far through his 3rd season:
    38 games
    180 catches
    2,738 yards
    13 touchdowns

Still 10 games left in the season.

I've watched every Texans game since inception and Hop is better. Sorry if that pisses off some of you AJ fanbois but it's reality. A little luck with a looong healthy streak and he'll surpass AJ in all categories.

If you've only watched the Texans since Inception came out then you missed Andre's two best seasons.

Not arguing, just asking for clarification.

    What does Hop do better?

Andre Johnson played most of his prime in an era that was a lot harder for Wide Receivers. Hopkins benefits from the most pass friendly rule system the NFL has ever had.

    Not really true.

The rules changed for good prior to Andre playing in the NFL. (and lets not revise history and talk about all the "contact" that Andre had to fight through).

And as it is, Hopkins gets the least amount of calls in his favor, given the amount of targets he's received... he gets held on nearly every pass play, but the refs just can't call it every single time (and often times, he catches it anyways, which usually nullifies them throwing the flag).

They're just different types of receivers... Andre actually thrived in running the slot/over the middle/slant routes... while Hopkins is literally the "throw it up and he'll go get it" type receiver.

I'm not saying AJ was bad, far from it. I'm only saying Hop is better.

Everything except route running. The two biggest distinctions that I have between AJ and Hop are the breakaway speed and the catch radius. Hop is clearly much better than AJ ever was at both. Part of catch radius is also types of throws that you can catch. I don't think there is a throw Hop cannot catch. AJ on the other hand was a terrible with the fade.

Yeah, but he's too easy to read on his comebacks
