the thing with bev is that his perfect role is to be a backup defensive pg at around 20mpg. cuz of his high energy style, being a 35mpg guard would bring his high energy down as he'd have to conserve it for the whole game. his defense is gonna kill most pgs this season, and the west is a pg heavy conference, and we're in the southwest which is good enough to be its own league. so it has to be a really good deal if i had to trade him. i dont belive in big 3 or bust. i believe in 2 superstars surrounded by good role players that work best for them. of course it it were lebron or durant then thats obvious. maybe bosh since he's a perfect 2 way player and perfect for a 'win now' team.
i'd pat if we can upgrade the PF spot. some options for a pat, KJ and TJ package: horford (if he doesn't want to sign an extension and they get worried he'd leave / we'd have to throw in picks) taj gibson, kirk hinrich, thier pick. faried ibaka (unlikely they'd be interested in pat, but i could see them wanting more depth) favors (would require a pick from us) the most likely i see right now is gibson or faried. those trades make so much sense for both teams.
Bev has no PG awareness whatsoever. Almost never makes the right pass. Hopefully his Defense gets back to the way it was a couple years ago.
I'd give it until the trade deadline. If he's even just playing ok, I wouldnt do it. I think at this point chemistry is more important to this team than adding another solid or even really good player. And this is coming from someone who complains about Beverly a lot.
Pat Bev is a crucial role player. He's had a few bad games this pre season but he he's gonna be a great back up. He has the ability to come off the bench and immideatly be a firecracker on the defensive end and has the ability to hit some outside shots and put up 8-15 points if needed. Plus dish out some assist Really we have one of the best back up PGs in Bev I think he's really gonna work out great I would never trade bev
To be fair no one really assumed harden would break out like he did despite being good already and #2 Kevin Martin at the time was still putting up some pretty good numbers #3 Jeremy lamb was showing pretty good promise and OKC didn't want to pay harden.
Unless you are going to get back a drastic improvement, then no. We saw what Deli did with the Cavs in their playoff run, and Bev is a better player that has the same demeanor. You need a tough little pitbull on your team. So no unless we get like a Mike Conley
Odd hypothetical...we would need a decent backup point. Terry is too old. Trading Beverley and Jones for a upgrade at the PF spot would just be trading off one hole for another while messing with chemistry. So, no (assuming Bev and Jones only net you a slight upgrade at the PF spot). What I would like to do, is dump off both Dmo and Jones for a noticeable upgrade at the 4. What this would do is Upgrade our starting PF significantly Save us from having to pay either Tjo or Dmo Makes space for more Harrell/Dekker Makes more space for small ball (Harden/Ariza) which would simultaneously open up minutes on the wings for Thornton and KJ. I think the backup PF position would be just fine with Ariza/Harrell/Harden/Dekker/Capela holding it down.
after the rockets got lawson i made a long long list on here and the only upgrade at PF that made anything close to making sense was al horford. that is pretty much it. unless you consider Love or Bosh somehow available to where you wouldnt have to gut the team, and salary wise that is not an option.
Pat, Dekker, TJ to Suns for Bledsoe and Morris. Just for kicks, make it 3 way and send Morris to Celtics and Rockets get Lawson and Perry Jones. Sign Larry Sanders for min and 15 is set.
Collison is not a good defender. He half asses on defense. At least Bev gives a full ass effort. As a matter of fact Bev is one of the better defending PG's in the league.
