No. Bev's deal is way under value from what other comparable players received last offseason and it's going to only get more ridiculous with the cap increase. Theres still a lot of uncertainty with Lawson off the court. No guarantee he turns it around. But having a player like Bev coming off the bench and with a team friendly contract is a huge luxury.
Can you quantify good deal? You ain't getting Kevin Durant for Patbev, Jones and Dekker. For Bev his contract is cheap and he gives you an outside threat but at the same time pgs are a dime a dozen and who will give substantial assets for a pg who can't handle the ball or make plays for others? As such it is highly unlikely he will be traded since I don't see other teams making an offer big enough to be worth it. For Tjones everyone knows he will be making bank next year and Dekker is playing like trash so meh
Why not? That would be considered as a good deal. So yeah, absolutely you take a good deal. There can't be an answer NO to a question "Would you take a GOOD deal?". Only time you say NO to a good deal is when you're the Mavs and someone offers someone really good for Dirk. Bev, Jones and Dekker are in no way attached to Houston other than with their contracts, so if you get a good deal you take it.
If I'm not mistaken, being hard capped now and limited in how much salary can be taken back in trade a good deal (even if it were on the table by another team) would be difficult to execute given our salary matching limitations. since all of tjones, dekker, and Bev are on contracts lower than their actual market value (well maybe not dekker, but he's a rook and still has potential) you'd be hard pressed to find similar value now that we're limited in salary matching.
I wanted Bev gone last year but there's no reason to trade him anymore. Since we have Lawson ... Pat will go back to where he belongs and do what he does best. Coming off the bench for change of pace and focusing efforts on D and now he doesn't have to try to do too much. A luxury at backup but inadequate as a starter. We good now.
Pat's in his perfect role. 20-25mpg backup D guard that'll bring intensity and a toughness to the 2nd unit. And he's paid in a great contract. But if it's a great deal, I'd drive him to the airport. It'd just have to be a great deal.
What about Bevs "defense" marks you think we can't replace him. The bench needs a PG and Bev just isn't a point guard. There is LITERALLY not a good passer on the bench without Smith anymore. I would trade Bev and Dekker to Darren Collison and a maybe a pick
Replace his defense with who? You want Collision guarding Westbrook, CP3 and Curry? And you want to give up Dekker too?
Collision is actually a good defender. Decker is a throw in because Darren makes a million less than Bev
Anyone not named James Harden is eligible for a trade. Hell, with Morey, even Harden is eligible if a miracle deal appeared from the heavens. If we've learned anything from Morey, it's that everyone is an asset. Anything that allows us to upgrade and/or retain flexibility, is a good deal in Morey's eyes. Pat's sal is like $25m/4yr? That's really not a bad deal for the current salary cap, IMO. With a salary cap of $89m and $108m in the next two years respectively, it's nothing. Currently, he is a great fit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC, he started the season on fire from 3 last year. Then he got injured, and it took him a while to find his stroke again, then he injured his wrist. He's shooting 37.5% from 3 right now, after missing 6+ months. All he has to do is play D and hit 3s. To be a great team, you've got to be able to play multiple styles. You've got your main run and gun mentality, but in certain situations and against certain teams, you've got to be able to slow it down. With a guy like Pat, coupled with a guy like Lawson, we've got the perfect balance to the position.
Yeah I'd trade scrub Dekker for a bag of chips I'd package Bev and Jones for a major upgrade at the 4
