Its insane value that they've gotten for the past 2 years to get even the slightest amount of a contributor on a rookie scale deal and another year left this year as well. You'd think around here that the Rockets gave him a max contract or drafted him in the top 3 after a tanking season or something. Its borderline insane. What a bunch of spoiled brat fans we have. Its embarrassing honestly.
There's also a good reason Jones has been starting ever since theyve both been here. All three seasons.
Every player have bad games and every player makes mistakes. I've seen a Rocket player turn the ball over 10+ times.
No he out worked him. Dmo was brought up 1st and couldn't handle it so they brought Jones up. The following summer Jones won the starting job over Dmo.
you're right it should be in the ball handlers hands? oh that's right who did he play with yesterday again?
C'mon, you know the ONLY reason Jones started when he came back from injury was because Howard was hurt and DMo was starting at the 5. If DMo hadn't gotten hurt he would have moved back to the starting 4 once Howard got back. Jones couldn't even keep the starting job from Smith, he'd have been easily 3rd on the depth chart at PF if DMo was healthy. I honestly can't believe that there are still Jones apologists running around.
The T-Jones hate wagon is out in full effect lol. It's pretty pathetic TBH, yeah write off a young, promising, athletic talent that is able to create his own shot off dribble as chopped liver over a pre-season game. I like how un-informed knee-jerkers proclaim that TJ is a terrible rebounder yet the past 2 yrs he averaged around 7 rebs a game and yet D-Mo despite being a 7 footer has averaged a hearty 3.6 & 5.9 rebs past 2 yrs. Also it boggles my mind how these TJ haters have harped on him for not being good enough defensively yet I recall D-mo being abused by the likes of Griffin, Aldridge, Duncan while TJ was hurt. It boggles my mind how some posters have an agenda to **** on anything TJ does, it's so petty.
Dmo never got schooled like Jones did and add to that Dmo was scoring on them fools along the like of Noah, Duncan, Aldridge, Davis while all Tjones does is get stuffed at the rim or have hos shot changed. That's all been my main issue with Jones. Dude needs to quit the pumpfake and just shoot the ball when he is open. Dmo is also a better defender than Tjones.
D-MO has never started over Jones while they were both healthy. Not apologizing, just stating the facts.
Fact is, the only reason Jones receives so much hate is bebecause he is the starter and you see him play more than D-mo.
Preseason is an opportunity to get better and to perfect your craft. Yeah last night's game was meaningless, but Steph Curry still found a way to be effective right? That's what good players do. This post wasn't meant to bash TJ. It was just an opportunity for me to express that I'm done hearing all the TJ hype, and wanted others to weigh in. We've heard the hype, the talent, the potential for 3 offseasons now. He's an inconsistent second string PF at best, and for our sake, a good role player. However we need a starting PF.
he found a way to be effective maybe because he's the mvp. that's no comparison. he played against a team that played a bunch of players that won't even be in the league. of course it should be easy for him.
First of all, that's not true. That happened a few years ago....but if we're talking about last year, that's only true due to the fact that the team needed DMo starting at center. DMo really stepped up last year while so many players were down with injury, without him doing so the Rockets would have struggled to make the playoffs at all even with Harden's MVP caliber season. If you swapped out Jones for DMo last season, the Rockets likely are an 8 seed at best. Talk up Jones all you like, but somewhere deep down, you know that's true. I just hope you don't take it too hard when your guy settles into his bench role.
Aren't you a stat guy? So please tell me what's the probability of a healthy Jones starting over Dmo in that situation you stated above ? You have the data of Jones getting the nod over Dmo for 2 years straight. Or will you ignore the facts because it doesn't line up with your argument? I've noticed you always toss around stats to prove your stance on here and other forums.
The probability of Jones starting over DMo for a full season is pretty slim. Last season if both had stayed healthy and Dwight had stayed healthy, Jones probably gets at least a month more as the starter before losing the job. That's assuming that McHale is slow to realize that Jones is the inferior player. Anyway, I'm not really trying to convince anyone, at this point if you are still a Jones apologist, there's nothing I can do or say that will change your mind....you'll just have to figure it out for yourself either this season, or next season when Jones is playing somewhere else.
Regardless if Jones plays well or poorly this year, I still think he won't be in a Rocket's uniform next season. He's not the best player nor is he the horrible POS player that some people have pegged him out to be. We have him, he's in a Rocket's uniform, let's just enjoy the season and STFU about Jones vs DMo. We need them both this season.
"DMo has never started over Jones" is I guess a true statement, but it's very misleading. The randomness of their injuries alternating with each other and with Dwight has limited the number of times the choice actually had to be made.
