Argument that only 3 rotation players played last night is invalid, because Jones is supposed to be this ballhandling PF, so he basically goes 1 on 1 against anyone and beats them, right? He doesn't need Harden or Howard or Ariza to be on court and watch him handle the ball face up. Dude's an inconsistent gifted heartless person, who doesn't have one elite skill, but has a ton of leaks. Good thing there's only 1 year left of him at worst.
I've played the game at the high school and college levels. I've seen players like T. Jones. Players that have all the talent in the world, players that dominate lesser competition, but "tighten up" or get nervous when playing against someone as good or better than them. That's lack of heart. Lack of confidence in oneself's game. These players are not mentally tough. So as I basketball player, with an opinion I can question his heart, ESPECIALLY since he hasn't proven me wrong. I'd take an average player with all the heart in the world over a talented player like T. Jones. A player with Pat Bev's mentality is who I go to war with, not Terrence's. Pat Bev, knows he's not the best player (skill-wise) but you couldn't tell, because he has heart to go to battle, every night, regardless of the talent of his opponent. When T. Jones shows up against REAL competition (the premier PFs in this league) I'll eat crow. Until then, I stand by my opinion.
It is what it is, there were 0 starting caliber players playing for the Rockets last night and Jones was in full playoff mode. If I expected any more from Jones I might be disappointed today but he's the most consistently inconsistent player on the roster. Sure he couldn't rebound to save his life, sure he only scored 11 points on 14 shots....but I prefer to look at the positives, he actually managed to hit 2 three pointers.
Lol...because I simply wasn't good enough. But I'm content with that and have been since graduating college. However, I'm willing to lace em up against anyone, anytime, because I am a baller. You don't have to be in the NBA to be one.
I agree with that, he hasn't made any improvements. - Still absolutely NO right hand - Still soft around the rim - Still no post game His help defense is ok imo, jumpshot still slow and ugly af (if he makes it Im ok with that) I just hope D-MO returns quickly to the starting lineup
funny how you're always so quick to dismiss TJ with this, when you want to try and convince Rubio is some great player. TJ hasn't actually improved steadily. Can't say the same for Rubio though. I've pointed this out plenty of times but I'll keep doing it as long as you don't hold the same accountability on your man crush. Take your own advice here
Hey I'm ready to lace them up anytime to. Can only shoot 3's though, the rest of my game is retired. LOL
It's still too early to make a final decision but the fact that TJ's motor was off last night is discouraging . Beverley for all his deficiency in skill and in bball IQ still brought a respectable level of effort to this preseason game . Jones wasn't hustling and couldn't find any openings to make plays. Obviously having Dwight and James on the floor will mitigate these weaknesses and allow jones to pick his spots better , but he will need to learn to play smartly and minimize dumb mistakes to not be a liability in the playoffs .
LOL. Where's the GOAT TJ thread where he scored 23 pts on 9-11 shooting and 2-2 3pt against the Suns last Tues?
I'm not upset about how he played last night. that's to be expected. He disappears and is a total liability at times on the court. Dmo can't get back soon enough.
