[SPACE] Alien Mega structure?

Scientists are speculating its the greatest mass of space dust ever observed.

Dyson sphere is low on the list of potential theories.

 

It is an intermittent phenomenon (every 700+ days), so I don't think Dyson sphere is possible, unless they added a sun roof.

 

So are we still not evacuating Matt Damon to Mars?

 

If the planet is encased in a giant windshield, then they have likely invented the intermittent winshield-wiper so that they can see into outer space.

 

I vote natural and not made by intelligent life.

If it's actually aliens, they are SUPER badass. Not just because they can build a mega-structure that casts shadows across the galaxy but because they'd probably be smart enough to know they're broadcasting and have no fear of whatever comes to get them.

If you build something like this, you're basically saying "bring it."

Ergo, I don't think aliens smart enough to build it would go through with it.

 

If there is an alien species that can build mega structures, we would be annihilated within minutes of contact.

 

If we send a probe now, we should be in contact and know for sure, in about, 50 Million years.

The star is only 1500 light years away, that's nothing in astronomical regards.

 

If it's aliens then it probably won't mean anything in our lifetimes. Maybe we focus more on developing faster-than-light travel.

Anyway if they're anything like us they would wipe us out if they came here.

Fastest human craft ever is New Horizons, traveling 0.067% light speed.

According to Wolfram Alpha, that distance at that velocity would take 70.638 trillion seconds, or 2.24 million years. So the ballpark estimate of 50 million years is only off by a factor of about 20, which is pretty accurate for being pulled out of thin air.

 

It's a pretty significant difference. Also, they're working on faster space travel, so if you (hypothetically) develop a way to travel with light speed, that factor 20 is huge.

 

Man, Fox is going all out for this new season of the x-files.

 

if you were traveling at the speed of light your trip would appear to happen instantly, to you. Alas, it would take all the energy in the universe to accelerate your mass to that speed and the Earth would be long gone by the time you came back to tell us about it.
