They had virtually no chance of winning the title last year due to their horrible start and being too old and not good enough and the West being too strong. I said it in the middle of the late season win streak and that same old "Here come the spurs!" bullsh-t started again. Then they went out and lost in the first round. Because they weren't good enough. They had a season that would have had Rockets fans embarrassed and screaming for blood yet people gave them a free pass. Maybe they've earned it, whatever that means, but they were still a failure last year and the naysayers were a lot closer to being right than the spurs worshippers, who were fooled by their late season soft schedule.
weren't good enough? its not like they got swept by the clips. It took the clips a last second shot to beat them in game 7. im all for rooting against the spurs but im not going to sit here and just disregard them like they are completely not a contender.
What do you think of Kawhi Leonard? Do you forecast any improvement from him? Do you see him as a franchise player?
Leonard is a fantastic player, but he is not a game changer on offense, so he is not a franchise player. Even with Dwight's limited offensive ability, you still have to keep track of him and double team him in many situations. You don't have to do that with Kawhi, yet. If that changes this year, then we might as well hand them the trophy not accounting for health.
I don't usually go into a nba season making a ton of predictions. Even though you can surmise what will happen in the nba much more than other sports. So it will be interesting if I'm right with this or not. They had great health last year with as old as their team is. This year will be different along with an even bigger decline from the grandpa Spurs
I think he is a slightly better version of ariza from a few years ago in an extremely good system. With great role models around him to emulate. He may end up a lot better than ariza though if he picks up his shooting %.
The Spurs biggest weakness has been the PG/manu ginobili position due to age and health. I'm actually not as high on the Spurs as most. I'm sure Pop will get real creative with the PnR, but they don't have enough at the guard position. The Roxs and Warriors are the most balanced of all teams.
Man... Tim doesnt even have to do anything anymore... And some of those plays... LMA is wide open... :/
