Boom. You nailed it. This guy should have been brought up already. At least we have someone in particular to look forward to.
I think they're already ahead of where those late 90's Astros teams were. At least in terms of success in the postseason. Those Killer B's teams were awful until 2004 when Clemens and Pettitte came aboard. Their combined record in 4 postseason appearances(1997-99, 2001) was 2-12. Already this Astros team won a wild card game at New York and lost a tough division series 3-2 to a Royals team that was a couple runs away from a World Series victory a year ago.
Game 4 makes this really tough to swallow. But the Royals are exactly what I hope the Astros become. That's a dang good team.
Are those the same voters that gave Palmeiro the Gold Glove at 1b eventough he did not play much 1b that year as he was DHing? Some voters will give Price the Cy Young, that means they are right? For me is an easy choice and should be unanimous for K. Voters usually don't follow OUR team as WE do, they are only going to see how bad we were last year, and the improvement we made this year. But this team should had done better with what we have. Now, if they give Hinch the award, great, good for him and the organization but i think Giardi did better with all the injuries he had, Molitor with that team, Bannister with the rotation he had almost the whole year, and all those injuries and even Yost who had KC in first place for the whole year.
Hey, I did say the Clippers choke was worse(for now anyway). Paul just turned 30 and has been injury prone, so there's no telling how long that window will stay open for LA to win a title. For the Clippers and Stros, the followup season will determine how large their respective choke jobs will loom over the franchises and their fanbases. A good comparison is the 2013 Spurs who choked away a title with a couple missed free throws and defensive rebounds they failed to secure(thanks to Pop inexplicably taking Duncan out of the game). They redeemed themselves by coming back and winning a championship(against the team that beat them the year before no less) the next season.

Astros 2 years ahead of the curve where they should be...now they know what it takes to close games at this level...Rockets vs Portland Trailblazers all over again. We see how the Rockets responded this year. I'm banking on the Astros responding the same way
The 3-0 loss in 1997 was excusable. That Braves team was coming off 2 straight WS appearances(including a title) and that Stros bunch had never made the postseason. The 3-1 loss in 1998 to the Padres was bad though. That team should've been way more competitive. And the 3-1 loss in 1999 was horrible. Bases loaded with nobody out in extra innings in Game 3 and they can't get one guy across the plate? Just a pathetic performance. And don't get me started on 2001. The Stros had a better record than that Braves team and homefield advantage in the division series, yet they get swept 3-0? Like I said, this team is already way ahead of that bunch of perennial playoff underperformers.
Good post. I just think Game 4 was more hurtful when the stros were on cloud 9 at MMP until the inevitable happened. That series vs the Blazers we were the Favorite.
I don't get it. Shouldn't that be Texas instead of Missouri? Are there that many Astros fans in Missouri?

What a series! Astros are gonna be good for a long time,#respect. We actually should have swept this series. There should not have been a game 4. I saw Oliver freaking Perez face three consecutive batters, two of them righties when we had the lead in game 2. Damn. Ok...this hurts but I'm done complaining. It is what is is. I'll be ready when potchers and catchers report in February. There are a few guys I hope do not report. And there are two guys in the minors who I hope are on the opening day roster.
After the disappointment fades, I am proud of the Astros.I can't lie though...anyone with a pulse has to be immensely disappointed with blowing games 2 & 4. We could have easily been celebrating a MMP in game 3 or 4. Anyway, you don't know how many times the opportunity we had will present itself. As an old codger, I hope soon. :>) So, now I move on to pull for Josh Donaldson who I watched at Auburn and the Blue Jays.
