I'd think Rangers fans would be laughing at your idea of what "cursed" is.... after what happened to them today, and considering 2011 was not that long ago... its a constant reminder of how truly bad it could be in upcoming years (presuming the Astros continue to put themselves in position to even potentially lose a heartbreaking playoff game).

The Stros' Game 4 choke is comparable to the Clippers' Game 6 choke. The difference is in the respective franchises and their history. With the Stros, they've been to the NLCS and World Series. The Clippers on the other hand(along with Chris Paul I might add) have never advanced past the second round. There was so much at stake in that Game 6(and 7) not just for this past season, but for their entire organization and for Chris Paul's legacy.

If the Clippers never get to the WCF or beyond, that Game 6 loss will haunt them for a very long time. If this Astros team never gets to the ALCS or beyond, I think the Game 4 choke will haunt the players, but it won't be as big of a black mark on the organization as the Game 6 choke will be for the Clips.

Astros need real setup men and a real closer!!! No more pretenders!!!

I just noticed the box score and every Astros except Gattis & Valbuena didn't hit nothing tonight.

Astros just 2 hits? Oh yeah, we're really going to win this important game 5.

    Awwww poor baby! Feelings hurt?

    Strawman set aflame?

100 hundred years... No other manager had done that before ... And I think it fair to say we won't see it again for a long time.

i don't want robotic managing, I don't think many of the sane people that saw the train wreck want robotic managing, but unfortunately Hinch is like a mongloid running with scissors... Luhnow will have to idiot proof then pen to limit potential damage from his own manager.

We got a play-off baseball team here in Houston. It's sad that I can't see them again for another 6 months, but you know Luhnow is not gonna use the offseason to sit back with arms folded. They'll be back and better.

Regarding that third one, won't AJ Reed be ready to replace Carter next season?

Just take a deep breath and let this go, we have a young team to grow with. Just hoping the young core doesn't become the 90's Astros and choke perennially in the playoffs.

Rangers fans don't exist. Dallas just won a ring a few years ago. We have 2 in like 160 chances or something. I guess 2 is better than zero though. Hoping to not have to say that till the day I croak.

Johnny Cueto is that good...give him credit. He was sensational tonight, and this is why they went after him this season...

Carter very likely starts the year at 1B. Reed starts in the minors to at least put off Super 2

Reed at some point hopefully takes over, and Carter becomes power off the bench, or is moved

Luhnow will take this great team that he has put together, and start working to make it better

Agreed but the game 6 loss by the Clippers was not done by a Clippers club playing together for the first time or with a bunch of young players. The Astros loss is not one to be excused, the decisions made by the manager and the performances by the players are worth of scrutiny, but at least they are not a veteran club.

Well you sure better replace them with the same home run power with more contact hitting to go along with it. If your gonna give 3 batters up like this ya better get something better in return

Can't wait to see what's done with the bullpen with more experience underneath their belt.

This reminds me of Rockets growing pains especially when they ran into the Trail Blazers in the playoffs and lost...growing pains

I agree with you 100 percent. I still can't believe Hinch allowed Harris, who has struggled since September to pitch to Cain. I would understand Zobrist, as he is good against lefties, but Cain, that was a BIG mistake. Well, for a long time i've said Hinch was not good, some guys took it personal and attacked me, but at the end, poor decisions by the manager, and bad bullpen cost us the series.

I would have loved to be wrong, but, i was right at the end about Hinch.

And are you one of the "sane" people you're considering?

You're now making racist comments in expressing your one-sided hatred for Hinch... that certainly will help your credibility here.

You might as well go back on your warpath against Rasmus... probably won't get much worse for you now.

Quit being a typical Houston p***y! (not really trying to start anything with you... I just hate this defeatist "woe is us!" mentality, as if this is the only "cursed" sports city in America).

Embrace the opportunity... and if its all failure, so be it.... chances are, it won't be.

Not if this front office continues on this trajectory.

So, all those voters who will give him manager of the year votes will be wrong?

I think a lot is fluid and depends on what players are available via trade or in free agency at the right price. The Astros would probably welcome someone other than Carter in the right situation. If Reed is ready, one can be shifted to DH. However the same goes for 3rd or catcher. We will just have to wait and see what happens. What I think is reasonable to expect is the addition of an elite closer and an improvement or two on offense.
