Do you want to redefine the way you use "white" in that comment?

NBA pays much better than the NFL. They just aren't good enough.

If I had to pick a sport that had guaranteed contracts and require little to almost no constant physical movement for 2-3 hours and can keep playing until I become 30+ pounds overweight, why would I choose basketball when there's baseball?

I can speak on this a little bit.

I am white. I played varsity basketball in HS at a 5A school.

It boils down to development similar to the black american players except the black american players are typically far more athletic.

Say you have 2 players. One white and one black.

Both players are 6'10" and have the exact same coaching/development until they are 21 years old.

Odds are the black player is far more athletic.

Unless the white player can somehow afford extra coaching or is able to develop his game far more than the black player then the black player will be chosen over him every single time.

The development and coaching in the USA is far behind what we see in Europe. Europeans are bred and instructed how to play basketball properly starting from the day they can walk. Properly is the key word.

Who would you rather have on your team?

    6'10" freak athlete black american
    6'10" super skilled european
6'10" okay athlete and semi skilled white american

This is a good point and was my guess originally.

So is it that American coaching/fundamentals have gone down? Or is it Europeans have surpassed America and have better coaching and youth basketball programs than America ever did? Or both?

Ive heard AAU is crap at developing players. But I didn't play basketball so I'm not speaking from experience.

I can speak from experience and the coaching isn't great at all.

The benefit of AAU is that you get to play in a lot of real games against really good competition. But there isn't a lot of coaching and the coaching you do get is pretty poor.

You learn much more from your high school coach and college coach.
