If you include Bernadette Peters, don't you have to throw in Madaline Kahn, just to fill out the 70's goofy Mel Brooks movie comedy pantheon?

She's doing her best Marlene Dietrich imitation from the film Destry Rides Again which was a super-mega hit in 1939. Her character in Blazing Saddles makes a whole lot more sense if you've seen it.

funny thing- i always had a weird infatuation with her as a kid - but never really thought of her as a great singer as much as a great performer. I'd put her in the same group as Shirley Manson - they both led great groups and had a great stage presence. Loved their music and songs, just not vocally great.

    I'll Take

    Patsy Cline
    Billie Holiday
    Stevie Nicks

    Hope Sandoval

If I want to give myself the chills, this works every single time. Unless another dude is present. Then I'm all like this song is stupid, no one should ever like it. Then we just end up singing every word together and maybe hug a little. No high fives. That would be weird.

Just trying to mention one of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned yet - which I can't believe, since she's from Texas!

First 2 albums with New Bohemians were GOLD. 90's greatness!
