You can't spin that upcoming schedule, sorry Baylor boys, no matter how hard you try. Play someone outside of conference, please. Man up, everyone wants to see it.

We used to be the doormat and conference wins were slim to none. Think about it.

SEC wouldn't let Tennessee play them. I'm sick of doormats too. Rice, SMU, Texas, etc.

Exactly. I'll give 'em some credit, they have Utah scheduled in 2023-2024

TCU doesn't seem to have a problem scheduling actual football teams: Arkansas, Ohio St, Cal, Colorado, Stanford

It's been a long time since that - the Alabamas and Texas's of the world schedule 6-8 years out, but the mid-range BCS schools and the Boise States and BYU's don't necessarily do so. Boise has, for the last decade, said they'll play anyone, anywhere, and I imagine would love the opportunity to play Baylor and could schedule 2-3 years out (especially given all their conference instability). It can't be *that* hard to go find a mid-tier Pac10 or Big10 school or top-tier mid-major to play.

Yeah, jokes aside, it's something that should've changed a while back.

Baylor fans want to see it too. We're not afraid. I would prefer it to not be against powerhouse programs tbh.

Oh yeah - I don't blame the fans. I think fans of all schools want to see their teams play good opponents. Winning 70-0 against a nobody is not really fun for anyone. It just sucks that admins are so scared - Texas had this problem a while back too in the latter part of Mack's time before our recent spate of good scheduling again.

To chime in, aren't these games scheduled years in advance? TCU scheduled a lot of harder non-conference opponents when we were in a weak conference because it would give us credibility. (Unless these are scheduled 1-2 years in advance then I am wrong).

Anyway, Baylor fans...your team scares the crap out of me.

They're definitely scheduled far in advance (although not always). For Baylor this was a fine excuse, a long time ago... they've been good for some time now.

What do you consider 'much'? First Heisman winner in the school's history. And a big part of the school coming into prominence. The fact that he hasn't panned out in the NFL makes it easy to to look back and make snide remarks. But in terms of impact to the school, he was huge.

If you win a Heisman, the school will build a statue in your honor...pretty common.

I got curious about this, so I google'd.

Since 1960 these heisman dudes have been given statues at their alma mater.

    Steve Spurrier (FL)
    Steve Owens (OU)
    Pat Sullivan (AUB)
    Earl Campbell (TX)
    Billy Sims (OU)
    George Rogers (SCAR)
Herschel Walker (GA - in progress)
    Doug Flutie (BC)
    Bo Jackson (AUB)
Tim Brown (ND - kind of a technicality here because the statue of him is actually a tribute to Lou Holtz, Brown just happens to be a part of it)
    Danny Wuerffel (FL)
    Ricky Williams (TX)
    Jason White (OU)
    Tim Tebow (FL)
    Sam Bradford (OU)
    Cam Newton (AUB)
    Robert Griffin (BU)

So that's like 17 out of 50 or so candidates.

Not exactly common, but also not rare. Perhaps, uncommon :)

Although the South clearly does it more than anyone else.

I really hope Billings is okay. Major loss if he's out for any significant period of time.
