You are wasting your time..... "House money " "coco" "club Astro".... Blah blah blah. They choked away the division, indeed there have only been a handful of teams over the last 25 years to comeback from where the Rangers did...
You should know this by now, but a manager's decisions are only good when they work and the players do their jobs.
I believe you said they would miss the playoffs and gave up on them long ago. Why do you even care at this point if they win this game?
Losing the division sucked to the extent they had to play the wildcard game. But made up for that by winning that game - and, by most accounts, got matched up with the less-scary team in the playoffs.
ummmm if we loose and head back to minute maid tied 1 to 1 with K on the mound Sunday I'd take all day long before the series started...stealing 2 games would be over the top but the astros have done their job already...winning this game would be extra gravy
When you put a player to fail, is the managers fault. You don't bring Oliver Perez in the 6th to face 3 hitters, one righty in the middle. Hinch has made that mistake many times, and all the times guys in this forum have mentioned it. So is not AFTER THE FACT, is something done before. You need Sipp in that 6th inning to fact the 2 lefties and the righty. You only use Oliver to face 1 lefty, thats why he is a SPECIALIST. He did not do the job vs Hosmer, take him out of the game inmediately. This game is on Hinch
Only thing that Hinch could have handled differently was using Sipp instead of Perez in the 6th with the middle of their order up. It makes me mad when managers don't use their best relievers against the opponent's best hitters late in games.
if you get just one extra flare a month - just one - a gorp... you get a groundball, you get a groundball with eyes... you get a dying quail, just one more dying quail a month... and you could be playing first base for the Astros and batting .204 instead o of .199
Winning in NY didn't make up for it... They could have used Dallas K 2X in NLDS w/o the WC game. As far as match ups, who knows.... Toronto hasn't looked so magical through two games.
Agree with you 100 percent. Also, Field has been used for more than 1 inning, and he usually does the job, why take him when you have 2 righties and a switch hitter coming up next inning? Why not use Sipp instead of Harris in the 7th? It worked before, right? All the moves today are DIFFERENT from the ones that worked for the past 2 weeks.
So what's your managerial experience look like? You seem to have all the answers, it'd be a shame if your talents were going to waste solely on the BBS.
He could have gone to Fiers in the 6th instead of letting Perez face three straight hitters. He could have gone to Sipp as well. It isn't a guarantee but a lot smarter than what he did.
Can y'all not reply to him? Clogging the thread with arguments that will never be heard by the other party.
pitchers who have a "funky" delivery generally suck, it seems like they are always struggling the find the strike zone
None, but i was RIGHT here. I've said MANY times Oliver should only pitch to 1 guy, he is a specialist, you don't bring the guy for 1 inning, you have Sipp for that. He used Oliver WRONG on this game. You know why he had such a high ERA with us and a low ERA with Arizona? Because they used him as a specialist, and Hinch did not. At the end he came as a specialist and did the job, today he did not. It was insane to leave Perez in the game after he failed with Hosmer, INSANE.
Fiers isn't used to pitching in relief, and the one time he's done it for the Astros, he got blown up. Changing what you've done and what has worked all season is a dumb way of overmanaging. If Fiers sucked, people would just have asked why he didn't use an actual reliever.
