"When really smart people" are just NOT personable...Chip Kelly really has NO one to blame but himself.
Except for throwing rookies under the bus, scapegoating the kicker and completely mangling his QBs... Yeah he's treated his players pretty well.
I worry about it. That's just the type of crap this team would pull. Only a total disaster has any chance of forcing McNair's hand to make serious changes. I mean serious changes.
At the end of this season, Rick Smith will have completed his 10th year as the general manager and the team's record will be something like 74-86.
When he could not watch the fricking field goal . . . all I thought was NOT THIS ***** AGAIN! Rocket River
This is my question Has the team taken a major talent step back I don't think so I don't think the cubbard was bare when he got here Rocket River
Look, there are certain things that are considered hallmarks of a poorly coached team. 1) Excessive penalties 2) Failure to adapt 3) Players quitting 4) Obviously playcalling Of those, playcalling is the easiest for fans to point and mock. I think many of us would agree that the playcalling has just been bad. Last night the excessive penalties were out in full force. Failure to adapt is OBVIOUS. Players quitting is impossible for fans to know. Even when we think they are quitting on a coach it may not be the case. Quitting on a season is different than quitting on a coach.
Don't worry. This season will be a total disaster. After watching that ****storm last night, where do you see 7 more wins on our schedule?
I think not enough people are acknowledging how lucky we were to go 9-7 last year. We had a crazy takeaway ratio, and IMO a lot of that just came down to luck. Definitely overrated going into this year.
I think it's entirely possible that the defense can sort itself out to not be a trainwreck. If that happens, all that has to happen to sneak out some wins is Brian Hoyer play like Ryan Fitzpatrick and Arian to stay healthy. That is possible. I don't think it will happen, but it could happen. Hoyer has had two awful plays this year that lead people to say he's been garbage, but really outside of two terrible interceptions, he's been fine.
The best move Rick ever made was cozying up to McNair. He's family now. Firing him would be like firing Cal.
I just don't see how that's going to happen. Outside of Watt and Clowney (who is apparently wearing a boot on his foot today......), no one else on this defense can play. Last night was a real watershed moment for my entire attitude towards this team/franchise. I've been defending them for years on this website, but from here on out, I'm just about done.
That doesn't even summarize the absolute trash this team has put on the field and the atrocities committed in the draft. This guy is horrific, we can't even roster mid round picks.
I don't know about watershed moment for my fandom, but in terms of this season, yeah, my give-a-crap-o-meter is officially at 0. 5 weeks. That's how long the Texans gave me to give a crap about the NFL this year. 5. Effing. Weeks. I'll still watch, but I'll have it on in the background while doing other stuff. I'll laugh at them instead of feel for them when they screw up. I'll sneer when Mallet/Hoyer does something promising, instead of celebrate. I'll roll my eyes when JJ salutes after an awesome play or appears in another commercial instead of swoon. If we manage to claw back to .500 before Thanksgiving I might start giving a crap again (just in time to get crushed, of course), but otherwise, I'm checked out.
