The one positive from the garbage that transpired last night is Strong finally being put on the field. Have always said he is a gameday player not a practice player. Looking forward to watching his progression the rest of the season. Not a bad piece to go along with Goff next season.
We'll see. He caught a hail Mary and a TD on broken coverage. Apparently his problem is creating separation and not having great hands
Lol, yes great pick. And that's on top of coming into camp 20 pounds overweight and having poor practice habits But he's literally strong and good at catching balls in traffic as we saw on the first one
Anyone else getting a little giddy over this kid's potential? I think he has a chance to be a great second fiddle to Hopkins in the future.
Hopkins is 23 years old and Strong is 22. I think the Texans have their 1 - 2 punch for the next 8 years or so.
He's already the second best WR on the team. Hopefully next year we switch out Washington and Mumphrey for other young bodies with potential (not to have stone hands). But yes I think Strong could have had an even more impressive rookie year under a more liberal coach. He flashes as a possession receiver.
Good hands and is very good after the catch. Should be starting next season. Would like to see the Texans look at a player like Jakeem Grant in the 4th or 5th rd. Explosive slot wr that will go great next to Hop and Strong. Also a threat on returns
We have a long term X receiver in Hopkins and a guy with great potential to be our long term Z receiver (Welker Boldin type) in Strong. The thing we are lacking now is a classic Y receiver, a pure speedster a la TY Hilton or Martavis Bryant, to stretch the field.
speedsters are overrated for the type of offense coach is trying to build here and the qb he wants. We just need a small shifty, great route runner, white receiver. Also, Need these False starting Tight ends to grow already.
A more liberal coach would have played a rookie WR who was 30 lbs overweight, so he could build his stats over 16 games??? OBie might have handled Strong perfectly. He waited until Strong was in shape and was showing he was ready for action in practice. That might be the reason that Strong has looked good in the games he played.
He's looked ready ever since that Indy game. But, O'Brien kept trotting Stone Hands Washington out there and Always Pulling Something Shorts until Shorts pulled something. Finally he has gone to Strong as our possession receiver, and I hope he does not go back.

Even when Strong was "overweight", he was still productive when on the field. I care more about results than image. He's always had a knack for making plays when given the opportunity. Doesnt matter if he was fat (211 lbs ), he produces when it counts.
Seems like he is his only obstacle. If he stays at the correct playing weight, he will be a stud #2 for us. Please be so.
