While talking about Ty Lawson, did anyone else catch Worrell mention that he is a recovering alcoholic for the past 24 years? I don't remember ever hearing this before, and could not find anything online about it either.

If so, I find it interesting that he was able to keep that under wraps for so long being in the local spotlight. Especially with Rudy T's issues well documented.

Same, pretty cool of him to say that on tv, shows Ty has a lot of people in his corner.

I thought it was really cool of him to be so transparent.

In fairness, the teams Houston fielded 25 years ago would have driven most to drink.

Why is this so cool and so great?

    If anything, it's pitiful.

What's pitiful? That's he's a recovering alcoholic or that no one knew for 25 years?

He did say it and why be ashamed of it, he's doing well in his life and good on him.

Everybody has troubles in their lives that they have to overcome.

It's cool that he's open about it.

    RIP Mitch . . . his one-liners were glorious.

Mad respect to Bill Worrell, too.

Found this page from Dan Lovett's autobiography:

    https://goo.gl/UYKvra

Sorry, the site doesn't allow text copying, but Lovett talks about him and Dan Ward getting drunk a lot. Then he says Worrell was the same, but was told at one point that he had to get things under control or look for a new job. Bill stopped drinking and never looked back.

This wasn't the first I'd heard about that. I think Bill has mentioned it before. Best commentator in the game.
