I wish the 5x had 3gb of RAM instead of 2GB though. If Asus could put 4gb of RAM in the Zenphone 2 in a $229 device, then LG/Google should've been able to do 3gb in a $379 device. The other thing I worry about is the news that the 5x doesn't have electronic image stabilization. According to google, the Qualcomm 808 processor is not beefy enough to do the same EIS as the 6p. This is worrisome because without OIS or EIS, low light shots will be tougher. Honestly, I think the best value in the $400 ballpark is the LG G4. It lacks the fingerprint sensor, but it packs in a great camera with OIS, removable battery, micro sd card, and relatively compact for its screen size. It's only 2mm taller and 3.5mm wider.
I dont understand how people continue to argue against Apples marketing strategies. That fact that you think they have an inferior product yet have the most market share should show you they know how to market their products. Marketing is arguably what the company does best.... Maybe the rest of the smartphone industry should learn how to push their "minor upgrades" more successfully.
It's more than that, and much like the fingerprint sensor before it, all the major android oems will be pushing their version of it in a year. Sounds like you have a decent grandfathered plan; I don't remember having as good a price at the time. Did you ever run into throttling? Att only recently pulled back on that. With your data usage I'm surprised you didn't have issues with it. But yeah I can see why you might want to hold on to it, though I will say it is nice to be off contract and maybe move to some of those other deals instead of being locked in for two years.,,
Im an Android guy…but the Apple 3D touch is legit. Anyone that thinks its just a long press is way off.
Is 3d touch available via software update for all iPhones? I'm an android guy too, but I'm debating between nexus 6p and iPhone 6+ (non s version). I'm leaning towards 6p due to specs and price.
Not sure about the 3D touch stuff…I would think it's not available via software updates, but I could be wrong.
Unfortunately this wont come to older iphones. 3D touch is a hardware implementation. 3D touch works by having the phone measure the distance of the cover glass to the backlight so when you push on the glass, the iphone is able to sense that the glass moved closer to the backlight. I think there are close to 100 sensors in the backlight that help measure the distance between the glass and backlight. Hence why this isn't long press. Long press is simply a measure of how long your finger is pressed on a screen. 3D touch is actually a measure of the change in distance between the glass and the backlight. It's a fairly subtle difference but it is different.
Fair enough In that case, I will reserve my opinion until I actually try it. For the time being, I still think you're excited more about the prospect of a new feature rather than the actual functionality of it. It's a very simple installation.... time will tell if it's all that effective.
It's physical upgrade so only the new iphones supports it. They actually put pressure sensors into the screen. I'm the opposite of an apple fanboy, but 3D(stupid marketing name) is probably the biggest innovation since the Iphone came out.
Men. Huawei beat them to it, but Apple did what Apple does...show up second and take the credit for being first.
They "announced" it a week before Apple's unveiling, which everyone knew was coming since the new macbook, on a phone that isn't going to be available in the US.
This video isnt intended to purely discuss the 3D touch, but in his review of the phone he does briefly show a couple uses...check out the 4 minute mark. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/E357cGzOGLM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
You can't even compare Huawei's implementation to Apple's. Huawei's is a freaking gimmick. They did next to nothing in terms of OS and app integration. All you can do with it is zoom in on photos and apps. Apple may be second in deploying this feature but their implementation absolutely destroys Huawei's. 3D Touch is integrated directly into the OS and they've made it extremely easy for 3rd parties to add support. This is the big point. Android's fatal flaw is its decentralized ecosystem. App developers aren't going to build support for 3D touch until it exists in more phones. Hell support for fingerprint sensors is finally getting native support in Android Marshmallow and its been around for 2 years. God it feels odd being an Apple defender since I have no interest in buying an iPhone but I think its worth acknowledging a good feature. Apple built this feature correctly and are excellent at implementing new ideas (even if they are second).
I wish someone would put in a blackberry style trackpad mouse on a android phone. I miss the precision of mouse pointer when copy and pasting.
