Strong is not the answer - so far, they are not even close to competing. And the lack of imagination in play calling on both sides, and the lack of discipline on the special teams. Yeah, Sorry, not feeling it for him. NEXT ! DD
Can you even serious? cuz ya shure cant capitulize. You are absolutely a poster child for generational struggles.
I do think he'll eventually get there with his ability to assemble a good team but a better on the field coach would have more wins. I wonder how long it will take until Charlie is held responsible for the team and not Mack.
I think next year is make-or-break for him. Also interesting to see who the new AD is and if he wants "his guy", so that's a wild card.
Totally get Texas fan frustration...but his recruits are redshirt freshmen/true sophomores. Think you have to give him another season. Mack really left the team weak talent wise at most positions
Textbook example of what Strong is up against right now. "Theoretically", UT should win on the road against the #4 team in the nation. SMH.
Dude, this #4 team had just barely beaten an unranked Tech team whom we've beaten every year since Crabtree was enrolled. TCU is ravaged by injuries. Nevertheless, I admit that it was IDIOTIC for me to expect the Longhorns to be competitive. The problem is definitely with me and other fans like me. We should expect to lose the first quarter 30-0 and be happy with the "progress."
It doesn't have to be yelling necessarily. Having some sort of accountability though for a mistake you just made should be made aware by the coaching staff. It just seems like they let it go too easily, and now it's three straight games where special teams has been god awful. 2 of those potentially may have cost W's. Maybe I'm not seeing it on TV and it might be behind closed doors, but it just seems like there isn't enough done from the coaching staff to prevent all these mistakes to keep happening again and again. Here's the problem I have with that. Last season for example, he kicked off a bunch of players who didn't follow his strict policy. Some of those guys were talented players. There are going to be some really talented players that will be turned off by his policies. This is my issue with the whole thing. Maybe it's not as big of an issue as I'm making it out to be, but I feel it does make recruiting a little more difficult and it does make him look bad with back to back horrible seasons after the first thing he did was kick off players from the team. What do fans think about Dabo Swinney? I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in. He's had some big wins over some of the biggest programs.
UT needs to employ a wait and see approach. While most believe he'll get a 3rd year, a few more blowouts like yesterday may force a change. But IMO, we would need to wait and see who would be available before doing so. We were a year late for Urban and a year early for Harbaugh. Not saying we would have gotten them but but our candidate pool wasn't that great from who was rumored to be targeted (not counting Saban).
We might as well just give $20M a year to Belichick. We will end up paying that much after all of the head coaches we buy out anyway.
I think they want to be patient and give him at least next year...but they can't have a 3-9 season...but it certainly looks like they might only have 2 wins left this season. Kansas and Tech or Iowa State could be it. It's likely they'll get curb-stomped this week against OU and most certainly @ Baylor to end the season. It's the 5 games in between that will determine if Strong gets 2016.
I'm not sure what type of accountability makes a kicker hit a kick or a punter catch a ball 5 feet over his head. I agree that there are problems, but I think, as fans, we underrate what it takes to solve them. Some of those wins are misleading - he's routinely known for losing the biggest games. Georgia and OU were unranked and fairly mediocre in the years Clemson beat them (Georgia was #5 to start the season but turned out to not be good). Notre Dame is missing all their best players and it was a matter of time before they lost. The other two were solid bowl wins. But Clemson also lost many games in big scenarios where they had no business losing (the FSU game without Winston being a huge example).
Charlie strong is so unimaginative. He's never going to outcoach someone. That would be bad if he wasn't conservative with his assistant coach selections. He rid of the best CB coach in the NCAA for God's sake.
