Kazmir is not even close to being a choice. Had the Angels lost today, and if the Astros win (and presuming the Yankees don't lose out), the two choices would have been hold McCullers back or pitch Keuchel on short rest. There are pros/cons to each. Pro Keuchel: 1. He's your ace 2. Yankees struggle against lefties 3. He's dominated the Yankees this year. Con Keuchel: 1. 3 days rest 2. Not available for game 1 of ALDS, and likely won't pitch twice Pro LMJ: 1. Fully rested 2. Yankees have never seen him 3. Has elite/unhittable stuff if on. 4. If he wins, allows Keuchel to be ready to go twice in ALDS 5. His dad was a yankee once... not sure that really makes a difference, but would make for an interesting angle. Con LMJ: 1. Young/inexperienced 2. Not a lefty 3. You lose with him, forever be second-guessed for holding back Keuchel for a game that never happened.
He was bunting for a base-hit with the shift on... not the worst possible decision with a runner only at first (and worst case scenario, you have a RISP with 2 outs)...just didn't execute.
Wanted more out of that inning....but I'll always take a run. Aright Collin, number 19 is yours, go get it.
I was actually thinking it with Correa but was like nah but Rasmus with an out? I assume Rasmus did that on his own.
McHugh needs to have a pretty clean first inning... the only times he's gotten in trouble this year has been this inning (but even then, he's been able to survive most of those games as well).
I hate sacrificing D for what little offensive improvement you may get. Tucker hasnt been exactly smokin it.
agreed, and something you never see. wonder how many 1st inning IBB's there have been in all of baseball this season.
