They should have saved some runs for today and tomorrow.

No more saving runs talk, we all know that's ridiculous. Baseball also isn't really the type of sport where you need to be concerned that you just embarrassed a team and they're going to come back with a vengeance. There's too many confrontations that are just one on one to really make that a factor. If anything this is a huge positive for the Astros. They have been super super tight in recent weeks and they just blew the lid off. They should be feeling great right now.

Exactly. If anything this should provide some confidence that they can absolutely play deep into October.

    Random thoughts...

Rangers win & Astros win today means we're in as the WC. I'd go with Straily and as many of the Sept call ups as possible tomorrow.

In any case, a win today guarantees the season doesn't end tomorrow.

How crazy would it be for the Angels to go into Arlington a game out of the playoffs, win 3/4, and still be going home on Sunday night?

I don't want to get into a 3 team tiebreaker scenario because it likely guarantees that Kazmir would have to start a game. I'm not sure he should even make the playoff roster at this point.

With the Wild Card game scheduled for Tuesday, if the bats stay hot again tonight i'd play them tomorrow. Will already have the day off Monday, wouldn't want a hot lineups sitting two days in a row

Assuming Keuchel would pitch the Wild Card on 3 days rest, and the next game would be on Thursday and likely McHugh starting, i'd still start McCullers tomorrow but probably limit him to 4-5 innings. Wouldn't want him going 9-10 days between starts. Would rather he stay on a typical routine, but throw a lot fewer pitches.

Angels putting the pressure on .. this is great for us if we win tonight. Let's do it!!!

If we lose, Rangers rest easy tomorrow and don't care if they win.

If the Astros win out, then I'm not worried about the Twins.
