Eh, their job for the most part is to make people motivated, if it said he got kicked out for refusal to train, I'd understand that because there are always at least a few like that, but "failure to meet standards" sounds like a PT failure....how can someone go through basic and fail a PT test? Before basic, sure, it happens, but after?
I just want to make the point that owning a gun is far more likely to harm you than protect you. People who own guns usually end up shooting themselves or their loved ones by accident at a much higher percentage than shooting a burglar or a criminal. Arming everyone would actually bring more gun deaths than less.
They're probably more likely to do neither. People used to kill their own dinner every day with guns.
This seems well researched and not butchered or dumb. Please provide the link that specifically states this.
I did the work for him however this is easy to find if you are open minded and not a gun nut. The truth is in the statistics. Guns are more dangerous than they actually help. http://www.latimes.com/opinion/opinion-la/la-ol-guns-self-defense-charleston-20150619-story.html
Burglars usually rob people when they are not home. On the reverse side people who buy guns in general are not good at using or handling them. Think about how many times we've heard of some kid finding his dads gun and killing a relative on accident. It happens a lot. People are also killed by people they know far more than people they don't know, having a gun only makes that easier. I'm not gonna post any links because I'm not interested in getting into a pissing contest, like you guys so often do, just stating facts.
Very true, which is why I support taking guns away from the police and equipping them only with whistles. Guns clearly don't help, that's why when the cops showed up to confront the Oregon shooter, they talked him to death.
What do you glean from the statistics that I just posted? I can only assume that you are too stupid to understand numbers as you keep ignoring them every time they are posted.
He said accidentally shoot your family. You haven't shown any stats to show that. If you think you have then you aren't open minded, you are empty minded.
Actually he did, and I didn't say "your whole family" but someone in your family is more likely to be injured or killed. The whole point of what I said is that unintended gun deaths happen more than the ones that happen when someone is protecting family, friends, neighbors, etc. from criminals. This is one reason I didn't bother posting a link, it doesn't matter because you will never admit that you were wrong, like most people on here. So the same argument goes around in circles.
I'm not sure what you think it shows, but it just shows homicides, not cases of self defense that don't end in someone dying. Depending on which numbers you believe, guns are used for self defense between 1.5 and 2.5 million times per year in the US and only a small percentage of those wound or kill the would be attacker which wouldn't show up in your numbers. Either way, the fact that more people are killed by criminals than by normal citizens isn't surprising....it just shows that more people need to defend themselves.
No he didn't Point out where it says family accidental shootings and I will gladly read it. The whole point is you are misquoting stats to say what you want them too.
The only difficult part about arguing with gun nuts, is that they are too air headed to understand what is going on. It's like arguing with a wall. It's so easy to find statistics that support the truth that guns are harmful to society overall. Here's another relevant nugget I found in 30 seconds. Gun nuts won't understand it obviously. http://library.med.utah.edu/WebPath/TUTORIAL/GUNS/GUNSTAT.html http://library.med.utah.edu/WebPath/TUTORIAL/GUNS/GUNSTAT.html
Unintended means accidental, he clearly showed you that they happen at a higher rate. He didn't misquote anything. You misquoted yourself actually.
There was a word I typed before accidental. You also typed it in the original post I quoted. That word isn't in the stats. This is my problem with the stats. Got it now?
of course you know that research into gun violence won't be available. Not well played. http://www.businessinsider.com/cdc-nra-kills-gun-violence-research-2013-1 http://www.slate.com/articles/healt...gress_blocked_gun_control_studies_at_cdc.html http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...-helps-block-data-collection-by-crimefighters http://www.propublica.org/article/republicans-say-no-to-cdc-gun-violence-research
