My point was that it wouldn't have mattered what kind of security force there was if the bombs they had placed actually went off. They wanted to bombs to go off first when the cafeteria was full of 600 kids, and then start blasting at them with firearms. The bombs didn't go off so they improvised.

I am not arguing against having security at schools. I am simply pointing out that it's not going to be enough to stop a highly motivated sadistic murderer.

Yes because I'm sure you have lived without freedom.

Get off your high horse. I've actually lived in and travelled to places in Asia and Africa that you'd **** your pants just hearing about. You know nothing about my concept of "freedom" and "liberty" you idiot.

The men who started this country haven't been around for 250-300 years. Constantly appealing to an authority (founding fathers) who have nothing to do with our society currently is not only moronic, but incredibly short sighted.

This is especially compounded when you don't know the prevailing viewpoints of all of them, which is overwhelmingly evident by your thought process. Further, you don't want to acknowledge the hypocrisy of selectively affirming some of their viewpoints and holding them as infallible when as a progressive society we have discarded other views of theirs that we deemed primitive.

From your posts you come across as a gigantic dumbass waiting to spew some "I know better" nonsense without actually knowing anything or backing any of it up.

There are some valid points being made such as the mental health discussion. I agree with that. You, on the other hand, have zero to add.

    Don't bother replying.

Exactly - Sandy Hook is when the gun crazies and their enablers went all-in on the side of guns over people - and when we collectively decided to let them.

I've already answered that question 3 times in this thread.

Sure, but the 2nd Amendment's right is the only civil liberty that grants access to machines designed solely to kill.

Since the country is moving toward more civil liberties, do you expect the populace to be granted access to more powerful weaponry in the future?

If enough people can come to not understand, then we can probably get rid of it.

You do realize you just proved my point, which makes this all the more ironic.

13 guns sounds like a totally reasonable number for one man to have.

Well there's no plan that can stop every single attack when you live in a free society, the best you can do is do your best to prevent most of them. If you supply schools and other soft targets with well trained security then you'll minimize most attacks.

More powerful weaponry like what? With the proper permits and licenses, people can buy pretty much anything they'd ever want to buy now.

The number of guns is irrelevant. He had 13, but he could have had 100 and it wouldn't have made a difference. That just seems to be a weird thing to harp on.

I don't mind hearing that tone from a former bureaucrat in one the larger and more diverse states in the country. There are genuine limits to the resources and remedies available to dealing with repeated but ultimately unpredictable crises, they're not always permanent or as principled as we'd like and I think Jeb's aloofness is drawn as much from the fatigue of exerting genuine effort and insights towards some genuinely intractable issues.

Actually quite easily I imagine, I don't think any DI worth his or her salt is going to sympathize or reason with anyone who's inattentive or unmotivated; it will probably get progressively more vulgar, violent and petty or punitive until one of them gives up on the other.
