You can limit the number of guns or even confiscate guns from legal gun owners but how do you reduce the number of guns in the hands of criminals?
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/guns/procon/guns.html Limiting of the sell of guns also limits the amount of guns in criminals. Did you think criminals were 3D printing guns?
Too much butter leads to high cholesterol, which contributes to heart disease --the number one killer in America. Even more lethal than guns!!!!! It's a slower death....and tastier. Just throwing that out there. No less sensical than some of the other logic I'm reading here...
You don't hesitate to bring up Chicago, yet utterly dismiss the tales of other countries like the UK, Australia, Canada, all that have stricter gun laws but much less crime...why?
Absolutely, which is why you can't buy drugs in America, because the sale of drugs is illegal. There's literally no way anyone could get them. If America has taught us anything, it's that if you throw a law at something, it fixes it.
If you thought more realistically, you'd realize that the difference between the US and those other countries is culture....which is why a city in the US like Chicago is more relevant than Australia. I know, I blew your mind.
The sad part is that you can't take a step back and realize that crazy right wing gun nuts have a lot more in common with the taliban than anybody else. That response wasn't just formulated after this event, it is something that I've maintained on this forum long before you even started to post here. Take a step back, and reflect upon why its even more bat--- crazy for every individual to have weapon capable of inflicting massive damage collaterally. Think for a moment, and realize how insane it is for students to be carrying weapons, given the fact that they collect in densely packed classrooms---which is precisely the reason that these areas are targeted in the first place. This is the same conversation I've had with every r****d, who just by chance , happens to have a low level of education and holds beliefs as absurd as the earth being 6000 or w.e years old. Forgive my willingness to partake in a discussion with someone who probably maintains that even at sandy hook, not arming the elementary school children and teachers was the mistake we made.
the problem this country is having with perpetrators of violent crimes are not doing what they're doing because of a gun or an internet web site, or a video game, or music etc. they're doing it because there is something lacking for them in our society, whether that may be love, friendship, companionship, access to a job, a hobby, spiritual nourishment etc. things that fullfill a person and make them feel of value and accepted. these are more fundamental reasons that people commit horrid attrocities, they become influenced by the society around them. the nagativities, the insecurities, the triviality, the lack of care. and i can say with certainty that there are some serious problems that our society faces in the realm of morality. i truly believe materialism, consumerism, hedonism, and narcissim is running rampant in our country with the advent of technology and social media. why do i think that this person committed this act because of these factors? because he felt that he alone had the power and right to judge who should live and die. by asking victims their faith before passing judgement. people who commit crimes such as this one often feel justified in their actions. why though? thats the bigger question. look at many of the past shooters who survived... often no remorse when asked why they did it. as far as gun control, common sense gun safety regulation, or just outlawing of fire arms. i think it is a step in the right direction. but its not going to stop people from being crazy, its not going to stop guns and weapon technologies from being created and sold. i think we as a society need to ask ourselves are we willing to take away the 2nd amendment, which is there for a reason. how about we do away with the NSA before we take the 2nd amendment? shouldnt the security state have detected and prevented this shooter who made a threatening post on a popular public forum such as 4chan?
Lol, so a person buys a gun to give to a person who cannot buy a gun thus allowing that person to use a gun registered in their name in crimes? Okay, makes a ton of sense.
Excellent rebuttal. Good to know how vast the right-wing nut mind is when it comes to rational thinking.
And if you were as "great" as you say, you'd realize that if criminals wanted guns in Chicago, they could just drive a few hours to another place where guns can be acquired easily. There are not even checkpoints between states. Restricting guns in a single city is NOTHING like the country-wide policy that is in the UK, for example. Once again, you were incapable of thinking critically. Further, why don't you just admit that you don't care about whether gun control laws would work or not. You are only saying that they wouldn't because you want to keep your guns. There's no use pandering and bringing up bad points like you have been doing. Admit that you have an obsessive relationship with inanimate objects designed to kill.
It's like a ******* broken record skipping over and over and over. Chicago. Butter knives. Criminals will still have them. No desire or want to dive deeper into the issue beyond talking points. No desire to look at the suffering caused so frequently at the hands of gun users. Just a steadfast adherence to the 2nd amendment and the talking points fed to them by the gun manufacturing lobby. Again it's insane. Bobby scoffing at someone calling the gun nuts as the American taliban and in the same sentence mocking possible solutions by sarcastically asking to repeal the 1st amendment while we're at it. It's that thought process that is the very problem.
