Even a double reverse with the two best skill position guys in the game wouldve been better. Or a fake of that and run the annexation of Puerto Rico with your backup center.
Vick missed an easy throw on 4th and 1 but I guess people like to forget Antonio Brown dropped a td early in the game. Either way terrible play calling should have ran it with bell
I wouldn't call an out route to the right with a left handed QB on 4th and 1 when I have Le'Veon Bell eating up yardage, but thats just me.
That was a bad call and the roll out on 4th and 2. Vick played about as good as you could ask for a backup qb on a short week and he didn't sign until week 3 of preseason. Not sure what some folks who are blaming him were expecting
The game was poorly coached on both sides, if you don't trust the kicker, why not punt there? Baltimore didn't have a receiver worth beans on the field at that point. You load the box for Forsett and make them punt deep in their own territory and Brown probably gets the return back to midfield with a fresh set of downs.
I agree. And if you're gonna go for it and run, hand the ball off to Bell FFS. Coaches trying to get cute is infuriating.
Not blaming Vick at all, this is Haley's fault. Tomlin for not punting, but Haley for thinking he can win with something bold. I know he and Ben had a tug of war for power last year, and here, in an effort to showcase his playcalling he outcoached himself, in my mind.
"something bold"? it wasn't that bold unless you consider a short pass to be bold. Vick threw a horrible ball
The play call is only correct if you execute it properly. Brown was open, but it was a quick out to the right, which is a tougher throw for a left handed QB. Vick sailed it badly.
It's bold when you take it out of the hands of two players who are dangerous with the ball in their hands. Brown had just returned a punt to the 50 yard line after bobbling the catch, and Bell had been outstanding up to that point in the game as well as in that possession. I would consider it a bold call on Haley's part to leave it up to your backup QB, whoever it be, to make the play, over Brown and Bell.
