First, the scope of your analogy is wrong, and you've obviously balanced it to your view. I can tilt it the other way: if James Holmes had gotten a speed ticket and encouraged his imaginative girlfriend to get an abortion but then he invented the polio vaccine, I'd support James Holmes. I imagine you wouldn't though.

Of course, James Holmes is loaded from the get-go. Let's rename him Bob the Builder.

Second, unless you want to argue that Planned Parenthood broke the law, you'd have to argue for changing the legal and medical system around fetal tissue transfer (or around these parts, dead baby sales) and I haven't heard you advance even one iota of knowledge about what that system even is.

Extremist Behind Bogus Planned Parenthood Videos Arrested

Troy Newman, leader of the U.S. based anti-choice extremist group Operation Rescue was just arrested trying to illegally enter the country of Australia.

Newman is one of the key characters involved in the release of a series of doctored videos which were deliberately edited to make it appear as if Planned Parenthood harvests and sells fetal tissue.

In light of Newman’s role in helping to orchestrate the videos, along with his long history of promoting violence against abortion clinics and doctors who perform the medical procedure, the Australian government denied Newman’s passport request in September.

Newman attempted to enter the country anyway. He boarded a plane in Los Angeles, California, where he flew to Melbourne, Australia, and was promptly detained by Australian officials.

In his book, Their Blood Cries Out, he suggested that abortion doctors should be executed and women and men who request the procedure should be arrested and charged with murder.

 

Those kinds of twisted ideas have no place in a western society. If he wants to live in the west, he has to adjust to our values!

I heard the filmmaker interviewed on the radio the other day. They have over 300 minutes/hours of video and have only released about 20. I think they are releasing it as they have done so as to stay in the news.

Does anyone have any proof that the videos are deceptive ... or just a bunch of desperate denials and assertions? Carly Fiorina is not proof because she is not the video itself. Hers is a faulty recollection. In what section of the handful of movies was some particular line uttered....

 

It's one thing to have a moral reservation with abortion. It's something entirely different to advocate killing doctors who perform them.

I don't even know what I'm dodging at this point other than laboured and flawed analogies, but sure, I'll support unbalanced James Holmes. Can you get to the substance now (current laws on fetal tissue transfer, whether they were broken, your steps to amend them if you feel they aren't, medical and scientific benefits of PP, a system that creates better health outcomes for all AND reduces abortions spearheaded by PP, the flaws in the video outlined, the legal processes that have cleared PP several times running now stemming from the video allegations) or are you stuck in an infinite loop? It's fine if it's the latter but the pattern gets quite obvious after the third pass.

 

Can I see a list of other actions taken against another life that you have moral reservations about but allow?

 

War. Capital punishment. Not providing adequate cares to those needing them but without resources to have them. Damaging resources and environment to the point of causing today and future deaths...

All lives matter, not just unborn

It's a terrible burden to sacrifice other people's lives for a cause you really believe in.

 

What if Planned Parenthood's budget was doubled, but on the condition that they no longer provide any abortion services, including medical abortions? They can still provide all of the other health care, contraceptives, etc. Wouldn't that go even further to reduce infant mortality, improve maternal health, and reduce abortions? For some reason, improving access to health care and contraceptives while also reducing access to abortion is never part of these comparisons.

I never advocated killing anyone; I just asked him a question about the discrimination he makes in tolerating violence toward another individual. It seems kind of selective and so must have an ironclad rationale behind it. It is perplexing why it is violent to kill healthcare workers who would kill kids (and it is violence) but it is not violence to kill the innocent kids in the first place.
