How anybody could support a record low in abortions, infant mortality, incarceration of women or medical service providers, and maternal deaths is beyond me too.

Those videos have been manipulated and doctored in a biased way to further an agenda. Can you not get that through your thick skull?

If I went back to the 1960s and shot videos of mothers and children dying gruesomely because of unsafe and criminalized medical practices would you be as outraged? I wouldn't even have to edit or doctor them.

In aggregate, abortions, maternal deaths, and infant mortality have decreased thanks to contraceptives and the advance of safe, legal abortions--and PP has been a very large part of that. You can lay out hotly contested videos all you want from an organization that has lied and which has seen its legal accusations unsubstantiated by several state investigations. You can't and won't change the facts.

I approve of the video. I also took A Modest Proposal seriously though, so take my view with a grain of salt.

Now, I'm assuming you won't answer my questions but yes, the points I make are why Planned Parenthood are a proud part of American medical and scientific history which has led to better results across the board: less abortions. Less infants dead. Less maternal deaths.

 

Hint: we're talking about the bad things PP does, like in the video... Your trying to inject other elements is tantamount to my comment that James Holmes was a decent guy until he killed all those people.

To clarify, as I did bundle a lot of statements in one and I did make a causal inference to strengthen my statement that is likely unwarranted:

More contraceptives and better sexual education correlate with preventing abortions in the first place.

And safe, legal abortions correlate with lower infant mortality, and lower maternal deaths. The medical practice of donating embryonic stem cells was directly causal to many vaccines and medical advances including the polio vaccine.

The overall effect of all this is correlated with lower abortions, lower infant mortality, and better healthcare results for the mother.

 

Planned Parenthood has done the most real work to lower the abortion rate in this country by providing counseling and birth control, among other non-abortion services. If you really are interested in lowering the abortion rate, you should fully support Planned Parenthood. Of course, lowering the rate is not in the interest of the anti-abortion crowd. The only thing that will appease those people is a return to back-alley abortions.

And to reiterate what other have already posted...you are not going to stop abortions by making them illegal. All you're going to do is make the abortions a lot more dangerous (or more expensive as people with means will just travel elsewhere to get an abortion if they want one).

I answered--less abortions, less infant mortality, and healthier mothers and implied that the other side of PP offered no solutions/alternatives/concrete measures beyond the moral chiding a 5 year old can perform ("NO MORE FUNDING FOR YOU!").

I didn't know your statement precluded intelligent discussion of the topic you presented (how anybody could *still* support PP). Make that clear in your discussion that you can only accept answers that reinforce your confirmation bias (that may be why this video is so readily definitive for you).

 

So why did they need to manipulate the video in the first place? Seems to me that an undoctored, unedited video would have been a lot more effective. Anti-abortion people seem to be incapable of sticking to the truth, though.

 

um, the law cares, which is pretty important if you're trying to shut down PP or if you're merely trying to smear it.

And if you want to change the laws, well, it won't be the first time non-scienticts decided to go all Gonzo on processes and discussions they garner through one video.
