Ignoring a possible ties with the Twins if Astros lose at least 1 game.

Astros 3-0, Rangers 1-3, Angels 3-1 = Astros/Rangers division tie, loser gets WC

Astros 3-0, Rangers 0-4, Angels 4-0 = Astros/Angles division tie, loser gets WC

Astros 3-0, Rangers 2-2, Angels 2-2 = Rangers division, Astros WC

    Astros 2-1, Rangers 1-3, Angels 3-1 = Rangers division, Astros/Angels WC tie

    Astros 2-1, Rangers 0-4, Angels 4-0 = Angels division, Astros/Rangers WC tie

Astros 2-1, Rangers 2-2, Angels 2-2 = Rangers division, Astros WC

Astros 1-2, Angels 3-1 or better = Astros eliminated

    Astros 1-2, Angels 2-2 = Astros/Angels WC tie

    Astros 1-2, Angels 1-3 = Astros WC

Astros 0-3, Angels 2-2 or better = Astros eliminated

    Astros 0-3, Angels 1-3 = Astros/Angels WC tie

    Astros 0-3, Angels 0-4 = Astros WC

Now, you have to factor in the Twins. Currently Astros 75 losses and Twins 76. It's pretty easy to figure out the Astros must maintain a 1 game lead in the loss column by season's end.

I mean, must maintain 1 game lead over Twins to win WC outright, obviously.

    Scenerios

    Astros 3-0
    Angels 4-0

    • Astros and Angels tie for division, I assume will play a Game 163 on Monday to determine the division champ and the loser would be 2nd WC

    Astros 3-0
    Angels 3-1

    • Astros and Rangers tie for division, I assume will play a Game 163 on Monday to determine the division champ and the loser would be 2nd WC

    Astros 3-0 or Astros 2-1
    Angels/Rangers 2-2 or Rangers 3-1 or Rangers 4-0

    • Rangers win West and Astros are 2nd WC

    Astros 2-1
    Angels 4-0

    • Angels win West and Astros/Rangers play a Game 163 for 2nd WC

    Astros 2-1
    Angels 3-1

    • Rangers win West and Astros/Angels play a Game 163 for 2nd WC

    Astros 1-2 or Astros 0-3
    Angels 4-0 or Angels 3-1

    • Astros Eliminated

    Astros 1-2
    Angels/Rangers 2-2

    • Rangers win West and Astros/Angels play a Game 163 for 2nd WC

    Astros 1-2
    Rangers 3-1 or 4-0

    • Rangers win West and Astros are 2nd WC

    Astros 0-3
    Angels/Rangers 2-2

    • Astros Eliminated

    Astros 0-3
    Rangers 3-1

    • Rangers win West and Astros/Angels play a Game 163 for 2nd WC

    Astros 0-3
    Rangers 4-0

    • Rangers win West and Astros are 2nd WC (unless Twins go 3-0, then Astros/Twins play Game 163)

what do you mean? if the yankees lose all 4 games and the astros sweep the backs, they will be tied with the angels i would assume

Houston and LA would play a one game playoff in Houston to determine the division winner. If Houston loses, the wild card game against New York would be in Houston due to Houston being 4-3 against the Yankees.

Wait...if Keuchel is pitching in the second game of the next series...then how will he be ready for a wildcard game start? Is there adequate days off for him to recover and be ready? Or, do we have to go with...Kazmir! ;)

Not possible anymore, but what if the Yankees, Twins, Astros, Rangers, and Angels all tied? :)

    This is awesome.

I'm to the point now where I am for any scenario that eliminates the rangers.

I have never seen these many rangers and angels game since watching baseball. Forget Thursday night football, going to be watching them 2.
