There is a pitcher that should NOT be pitching any more, that is Neshek. I don't blame Neshek, i blame the manager, why do you continue using him in tough situations? He is our worse reliever right now. I prefer to see VV than Neshek at present moment.
Now that the Pope has left, I feel like it's ok for me to say I'm really rooting for a comet strike during that series.
Ok.I think most managers would have avoided inserting Neshek into the most critical situation of the season at that point in time. After his complete implosion during the month of September, he needed some kind of confidence builder. You have to put him in with at least a two run lead or with nobody on base and let him get one out at a time, ready to pull him after the first walk or first hard hit basehit.
Honestly, after all the crap that went down this month, I'm emotionally spent and I don't care what happens any more. If they get in, then fine. If they don't get in, then fine. It's been a very interesting end to the season. It's a shame if they blow it now but it is what it is.
For as good as Neshak pitched earlier this season, he is equally poor right now. He simply can't pitch in big situations for the foreseeable future. I've given Hinch the benefit of the doubt this season, but last night was on him. Neshak should never have faced O'Malley, and he sure as heck shouldn't have thrown him the exact same pitch for the entire at bat.
This... The hate on Neshek just merely mirrors the hate on all the above scapegoats, along with Will Harris (who was the scapegoat just as of 1 week ago). Neshek actually hadn't pitched since 9/23... so its not as if Hinch has been recklessly running him out there. If you're effectively going to demote him, who do you all want taking his place? Qualls? Keep in mind that Harris is probably this team's best pitcher vs. lefties, so his utilization is usually based on a specific part of the lineup in late-inning situations (sometimes the 7th, sometimes the 8th). He hasn't been good... but that can be said for the entire bullpen (most of which has pseudo-redeemed themselves with more opportunities). Last night was Neshek's chance to do the same.
I agree. Hinch mismanaged the situation. A move should have been made. Hinch would probably say he only needed to get the one out. But, all his spidey senses should have been telling him that Neshek was off at that point and another reliever should have been brought in to try to finish the inning. Hinch will probably refer to Neshek's past success this season as the reason he stayed with him versus how he has been trending lately. Oh...and it was a broken bat bloop single...so that justifies it as just unlucky...which Neshek has certainly been while he's been sucking.
Kazmir going for us tonight, Zito going for the A's tomorrow. Texans? lol. Rockets season is almose here you guyse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #rednation
I mean some kind of positivity Seattle will go with either Mayckol Guaipe (0-3, 5.32) or David Rollins (0-2, 7.88) but knowing the road Astros and Scott Kazmir.....
I haven't been great luck to the Astros in person this year...so I'm purposely avoiding tonight even though tickets are like $13 behind home plate. Sorry about yesterday--my bad.
I know you are a huge Astros fan. I personally have been a big fan since I was a child in 86'. I have even worked with the team. However this has been ungodly painful.... like a slow terminal illness for the last 5-6 weeks and we all know where this is headed.... just a spark hoping we are all wrong.
