My 5s has been a spectacular disappointment. The battery life is abysmal and any consistent use can drop its percentage by nearly 20 points in less than an hour. I've taken it to the Apple Store a number of time and it's never been fixed.

The battery life combined with my growing frustration with all native Apple apps, except for iMessage, has me considering the new Nexus.

People who've switched from iOS to Android: how did it go for you? Did you notice any drawbacks with messaging friends who stayed with iOS and did you use other apps like WhatsApp to reach them when outside of cell service?

Would you be buying outright? Most carriers have moved from contracts to plans that enable you to upgrade every year (or close to it).

Not too make it more difficult for you, but the 6S is awesome. ;)

Ugh, that's my biggest concern. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to try hands-on before making a decision.

Goodbye Note line. Won't renew until like 2 years after my contract ends (diminishing returns from upgrading now, not like it was several years ago where 2 years made your phone obsolete) and if other manufacturers can get close to what the Samsung has with its AMOLED screen I am switching, hopefully to Nexus flagship line. Yay to getting updates like literally 6 months before everyone else and no stupid TouchWiz.

is the pricing expected to be a little more reasonable this time? i'm not sure what nexus 6 sales were like but the 650 off contract price coming from like 350 for the nexus 5 turned me off.

not that i'll get a nexus 6P,..recently got the zenfone 2...but hoping google gets back to those reasonably priced phone market.

If the 6p is a decent price, I may consider it.

Although my Oneplus One is still working like a champ.

Not going to happen. Pretty much every amoled panel outside the galaxy and note line have been crap in terms of max brightness, color accuracy and odd yellow tinting on whites. Even the S6 has some odd yellow tinge to their screen. The Note 5 is the literally the best smartphone display by a wide margin and the first amoled device I saw that has bright accurate whites.

The Nexus 6 for reference had an absolute **** display and that's pretty much because they used an old Samsung hand me done reject panels. The max brightness was pathetically low (200nits, Note 5 for reference can go past 800 nits) and there was a ridiculous yellow/pink tint the display.

The display is so amazing on the Note 5 that I actually bought one even though I'm heavily anti-touchwiz. I had to do a few things to get the software the way I wanted it. I downloaded package disabler and disabled pretty much all the bloat and Samsung apps besides S Health and S pen(the only two worthy apps made my Samsung besides their amazing camera software). Then I immediately downloaded the Google Now launcher and installed a material dark theme and I'm conten with the way the software is now. The only thing I truly miss with stock android now is the Google Dialer which absolutely craps on Samsung's dialer. Unfortunately the dialer is baked into the system, so you need root to install the google dialer apk.

I figured, if I can get the software to were I need it and ignore some very minor quirks with touchwiz, I have one beautifully designed phone aesthetically, along with the flat out best camera on a smartphone and best display on a smartphone. I also heard rumors that Samsung actually took advantage of the amount of time Marshmallow had a dev preview and will have a marshmallow build ready for the current gen Samsung devices right after Marshmallow is officially released by Google.

I love stock Android, but am really getting tired of avoiding devices that have he best camera and best display just because there are some correctable annoyances with third party skins. Let's face it... Nexus devices have a history of crap cameras and average displays to **** displays with the Nexus 6.

Loving my new iPhone 6S. Though, 3D touch is a gimmick.

Really? I thought it would be a pretty important addition because they basically found a way to do a right click on a touch screen device.

Its about what you are looking for, with the Nexus 6 you mentioned, yes at that price point you want to get the greatest return for your premium price you are paying. Though generally the Nexus line has provided great value for your dollar, you shouldn't expect the best screen or camera when you are paying a lower dollar value. I've always had a Nexus except for the 6 because of the price point.

I'm going to look into the Nexus 6p if its reasonably priced.

379 for 5x and 499 for 6p. the latter will likely be sold out within minutes if prior ordering history stays true to form. too much of a good deal on the p. so much on the x.

Where are you getting that $499 price point for the Nexus 6P? If that's really true, then it's time to upgrade the phone.

pretty much any android blog. android police and droid-life to name a couple.

i agree, but nexus devices are essentially models for other oems to follow. pretty sure google with science the ish/optimize the hell out of it.

True, Im sure performance will be very solid.

Actually, my bigger issue is that I got the LG G3 last August, so I have about 6 more months of payments before being able to upgrade (Unless I want to drop about $180 to get out of my commitment for the LG G3). By then, I may as well wait and get the next Nexus.

Disagree. Absolutely can have a big impact on usage. And its integration is extremely smooth.

Just the ability to touchpad the keyboard for text alone is killer
