I know you are slow, but you have to realize that i never said they were "awesome" I said they were the best WR corps the Texans have ever had.....which is true. Do they still screw up? Of course, but if you've payed any attention to the Texans in their history, you know this group is better than any we've had in the past.....not that it really says much.

Pretty sure there wasn't a way to make everybody "happy" today...

Since they won, but not pretty... not all that great.

If they won going away, it would have been more because the Bucs are bad.

If they lost, this place would have burned down... yet that is the one scenario that seems to unify most in here, so not sure if it really would have made people all that upset.

In the end... this team still needs a helluva lot of work, but I'm not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Line made progress (despite it being patchwork) against a not-so-terrible Tampa D-line. There was only 1 really dumb penalty. The 1 turnover was off a deflection. They stuck with the running game, and it eventually paid off... Arian coming back will do wonders. And the defense, while still shaky as hell in the LB/Safety play, executed for the most part and forced the Bucs to alter their gameplan to account for it.

Mallett wasn't anything spectacular... but he wasn't bad with his decision making today. Seems to have a decent grap of making line adjustments. Tried to adjust his touch on some balls... and there were some more drops by his receivers that weren't his fault. Wasn't checking down as much. Looked better as the game went on.

What I took away from this game is that Holly Sonders is getting away from the golf channel and taking her assets to the NFL. (mya nichole lookalike)

A win is a win is a win...but man...that could not have been uglier. This team looks very bad. Hard to see anything more than 5-6 wins.

they do need work and personally I think Godsey needs to be removed from play calling duties... that said

I though Mallett was overall very good today. His int was tough luck. He had 60-85 yards of nice passes that were dropped. His ball positioning on passes was very nice as he continually kept receivers out of harm while minimizing the opportunity for a turnover.

Nuk needs to start making a play.

other receivers need to make plays

Mainly - Godsey needs to learn how to play call as a legitimate OC

Today's game just showed the importance of having a run game. As the O line gets healthy and Foster gets back in the game I think we'll see a much improved offense going forward. Sure there were negatives if you want to harp on those, but there were plenty of positives if you are open to seeing them.

That's all the right things to say.

But then there are still some realities this team need to face :

    - special team plays overall is close to a joke level.

    - defense did not break overall, but got blend often, no sack is a concern, JJ will get double often, but he got his chance when he was 1 on 1 sometime and he did not show the superman level we expected, well that's still OK if his teammates will pick him up, but that did not happen.

    - running game is good today, how much is related to how bad the Bucs is or how much we improved still remain to be seen. But TE wise, its still the same old.

I actually have no problem for those play callings with the sucking screen passes especially, hey the Bucs suck, its better to punt the ball than creating a TOV and let them have a short field.

You clearly said our depth is one of the best in the league.

That means Shorts and Washington, because your boy Strong can't even get activated.

And they are mediocre at best.

True, but I must have said at least 5 times over the last 3 weeks... that this ST unit is truly a patch-work job based solely on the injuries and lack of depth this team has for its regular rotation/core players.

Guys like Simon, Demps, and even BLUE should be ST fodder... but on this team, they're starters right now.

If they get healthy, the depth improves... and the ST play will also improve.

They badly disguised some of their blitz packages (was pretty obvious where the pressure was coming from). TB line did create a pocket more often than not. Clowney played even more today... safe to say he's a full-time starter again (and downright elite against the run thus far), when many were saying he would only be playing on blitz-downs for most of the season.

Probably a little of both. Line did open some major holes... and even this untalented/slow/lack of vision RB core eventually found them. TB's d-line isn't bad. Also, not sure how much the TE's are a focus in "this" offense, compared to Kubiak or Brady's. If they're covering Hopkins, Shorts and Washington with single coverage... why would Mallett even look over at the TE? Once the defense starts providing safety help to one of our receivers, you'll see the TE be open more.

Lack of depth is a feature, not a bug.

BOB can't use the depth excuse when he traded or forgoed like 8 picks already.

Really? The Seahawks have been to back to back Super Bowls and won one. The rockets haven't been to the championship in 20 years

I think you gotta double team him underneath and overtop like they were doing with Evans for a short period.

We had some luck with Tampa dropping 3rd down passes...we really need to find a way to get pressure on the QB. That's the second week in a row where the opposing QB had all day to go through their progressions. Matt Ryan will eat us up next week. 2 things I LOVE about our defense thus far, though: the play of Clowney & Kevin Johnson. They've made mistakes, but I'm looking forward to watching them develop.

In all honesty, this is a game we had no business winning - Tampa's reversed TD that, IIRC, turned into a missed FG was HUGE. However, when we started to gain decent yardage on the ground, our offense really opened up. Once the OL gets some health back and Foster returns, I fully expect a highER powered offensive machine...which wouldn't take much!
