Blow (Boston George is a great story), Donnie Brasco (the cast was why that movie was great), and What's Eating Gilbert Grape... He didn't have a leading role but Platoon and Nightmare On Elm Street as well.

But this movie looks like trash.

egads, agree, but is it possible it is *just* a marketing thing and we won't have a screwed up soundtrack to the actual movie? Hope so. Such a good topic and cast.

Personally, I love Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd and Ed Wood just as much as anything "normal" he has made.

I saw it. I enjoyed it a lot. Best mob movie I've seen in awhile.

I will be watching this tonight.

The Departed is a really good movie so hopefully this one will be up there.

    Joel Edgerton steals the show.

Saw it on Friday. I thought it was very good. It was a bit choppy in how it went from period to period. I think they glossed over some things that would have been helpful to see. I would have liked to see more about his earlier life (time in prison as a test subject for the CIA's LSD program, time before the Winter Hill Gang).

    Otherwise, an excellent movie.

This movie wasn't even about the movie...it was all about Johnny Depp. Man was brilliant in this! One of his best performances, and one of the best performances I've seen in a long time.

IA, the pacing was very and then this happened and then this happened. Depp was incredibly good and didn't overact like Edgerton did.

I have no faith in Johnny Depp as an actor, I'll pass on this one

I thought the opposite. I found Edgerton to be incredible and Depp just so so.

decent flick but nowhere near some of the great mobster flicks. they did little to endear depp to you - no real back story so you never form a connection with him. he's just an ******* gangster.

i'd wait to catch it on demand or hbo.

I can't really understand how this movie and Depp got snubbed for an Oscar nod -- very good movie IMHO.

I watched it last week. Depp was great but the movie was a run of the mill gangster flick.
