i was listening to the post game interview on the radio, a caller mentioned he liked what luke did by plunking the rangers' batter. Was that intentional? I was listening to it so didn't get the feel of intentional.
I know, would have liked to have heard that question asked to Hinch at the post game interview that we didn't get to see.
I think the reason is he can't bat lefty, still injured, but then you pinch hit for the guy, use Singleton, they bring the lefty, use Duffy, and then Valbuena as defensive replacement at 1b. Other option with Valbuena is use him as defensive replacement at the end of games at 3b, he has more range and much better arm than Lowrie.
If that is true, why couldn't he even bat righty on righty? I realize it would be weird for him, but better than giving away an out. I'd rather they tell him go up there and take every pitch.
I have to give Hinch a great move today, well, is more the move HE DID NOT MAKE. In the 6th, Texas brings a righty, probably doing in it so we take Carter, but Hinch stuck with CC and he hit a big homer. I think we need to continue using CC as much as possible, he is really hot with the bat. Tomorrow is a given, Perez struggles vs lefties, but at Arizona, that ballpark balls travels.
Yes, beca use he was not hitting for a long time. Now the guy is hitting, should he play? What is your opinion? Should he play? Should he be our 1b for next year?
exactly. on both. the notion that it's so awkward for a professional baseball player to bat righty on righty that the better option is to sac bunt a guy to 3rd with one out cracks me up. there is no way in hell that's the correct decision.
i'll go ahead and say it... and, as my carter fickleness has been probably 1/10th that of the majority on here, i don't feel quite as dumb saying it: if they can bolster their lineup enough to the point where carter can bat like 8th, i'd like him back next year as a DH and a 1B platoon role with Reed. that would be ideal, imo. even in his mostly abysmal year, the guy has hit over 20 hrs in 120 games. he can hit 30+ hr in his sleep if he can just get to a level not as good as last year but not as ****ty as this year. if they can fill the lineup with guys who can do a better job of getting on base, i'm perfectly fine with his boom or bust bat deep in the lineup. 30+ hrs from an 8th or 9th hitter would be a luxury that no other team has. batting him that deep takes a lot of pressure off him too.
Hoping Keuchel can shut Texas down early so we can jump out to a lead. Seems like we are playing a lot of games from behind. Altuve and Correa need to continue to punish mistakes by opposing pitchers.
So, had Hinch listened to you, then Carter would not have played any more this year. As long as Gonzalez is hurting Carter certainly deserves more at bats. Next year, I hope they have better options at first and third.
you can quit worrying about the indians. if we lose enough in the final 7 games for them to make up 3 games, then the twins and/or angels are passing us too.
