This is one of the worst choke jobs in Houston Sports history if they don't at least get the WC. It's like the Bills game except an agonizingly slow and painful death with each night getting worse.
If the Astros happen to make the wild card, which they won't, I'm almost embarrassed to cheer for them.
This team makes baseball look like the hardest sport in the world. They can't do anything right. Epic fail. Blame whatever you want. I don't care. It's still a choke job and a punch to the gut for all Astros fans. Can't even beat the Rangers in one game. No rivalry whatsoever as its so one-sided. Rangers own us. Astros should feel like garbage.
Right!? It's not like we haven't been there plenty of times in the last decade. Oh wait... I seriously don't understand this line of thinking . Why, no matter how we got into the playoffs for the first time since 05, would you be embarrassed to root for your team?
Lets make one thing clear, i believe Hinch is a very smart person, but RIGHT NOW, i don't think is a good manager. Will he improve? I don't know. There is a forum member that says that i blame Hinch for everything, let me make myself clear. There was a coach that once said, close games I am responsible for loses. Well, i believe that statement is correct. I will only blame Hinch on 1 run games if he does things wrong. Like for example, last night, we all knew Tucker sucks defensively. It cost us at least 1 run his defense. If the game was 6 to 5 instead of 6 to 2, would the manager be responsible? Is the manager responsible to have a team ready to play? Why Maddon's teams, with average to above average is able to win games? Yes, i know is not fair to compare one with the other, as Maddon is one of best managers in baseball, but i think this is part of been a manager, to be able to relax your team and have them prepared to win games. Are we good enough? or is the manager? We are good enough, you can't tell me that we are a bad team that is unable to hit Doubront, Tropeano, a team that walked 9 hitters, ect Yes, players are responsible, but what happen when that player should not be playing and IS PLAYING? Whose responsible? How many times have we said in this forum, ****, Singleton had a good game, he will not play for the next 3. Or, Marisnick had a great game, now will not play next game. Same with Carter, or why is Conger playing vs a left handed pitcher? Why not move K to pitch tonight? Why????? Today we are facing Holland, tomorrow we are facing Perez, why not play with match ups? Bannister did that with Hamels when we were in Arlington, and they kicked our ass. There was a day off, move K one spot, why not???????? And then have McHugh vs Perez, and we have a better chance on winning 2 out of 3 vs Rangers. Would Maddon do that? When he had Price I mean, you bet your ASS he would. We saw it already with Bannister. I don't think our team is bad, i think we are average, slight above average, but not bad. Still, i think our manager does not have us prepared (they score many runs in the first against us), screws lineups, does not put the players with best match ups, not good using matchups with relievers (doing a much better job here lately), not running or using the hit and run with some players, and when you have the best pitcher in the AL, use him when you need to win games, i want him pitching TODAY vs Holland.
This line of thinking I just find ridiculous. You're comparing a young team, playing above expectations, fighting for a playoff spot and the division, to an Oilers team up 32 points at the half in the Wild Card game of the playoffs. Doesn't even compare to the Rangers final week collapse in 2012. This team enjoyed a hot April, but after that 10 game win streak, they pretty much played .500 ball. They are who we thought they are. A mediocre to average team. That's a whole lot better than the horrible seasons they have had in recent years and pretty much on schedule in their development. And while I'm disappointed they have played so poorly in September, I'm not really that surprised they couldn't hold on to the division and are letting the Wild Card slip away. I would love to see some October baseball from them again, but this team just isn't on the same level as other, more experienced ball clubs.
WE KNOW YOU DON"T THINK HINCH IS A GOOD MANAGER YOU HAVE CONSTANTLY WRITTEN THAT FOR MONTHS WE GET IT GO AWAY
I think altuve, correa, and springer are legit, but the the rest of the lineup needs to be fixed. Too many of those guys are high strikeout low average guys. The rely so heavily on the home run and if isn't consistent. It has too much variance.

Thank God Altuve is ok!!! Like the lineup today vs the Lefty...Yea I gave up on Carter a long time ago, but at this point might as well hope for a few longballs. Heading to the game here in about 10 minutes... LETS GO STROS!!
Dont understand everyone being so stressed and freaking out about this team. None of us expected us to contend this year, Im just enjoying the ride and whatever happens happens this season
Agree with you, but this team changed through the season. We acquire 40 percent of starting rotation for the playoff run. We brought an All Star Outfielder to help the lineup. We brought a good lefty specialist. That is 16 percent of your team. Also, at the beginning we did not have McCullers, now we do. Before that it was Roberto Hernandez and Wojo. Also brought Correa, before that it was Villar (I still believe Villar is a starting SS in the majors, but need to mature as a player) So yes, at the start of the season, we thought 81 wins would be GREAT, but after changing your roster with 8 new players, 32 percent of your 25 men roster, the number increased. This team should be able to win 87 to 88 games, below that it is going to be a disappointment.
Carlos Gomez will be able to help the team next year. I would use this lineup for next year: 1. Springer RF 2. Correa SS 3. Altuve 2b 4. ? 5. ? 6. Gomez LF 7. GAttis/Tucker DH 8. Castro C 9. Marisnick CF We need a 1b and 3b on the team. We don't have a really good number 4 hitter. Now, do we want to sign a Free Agent and lose a first round pick? Or do we trade for one. I like Morneau, he could be our number 4 hitter until Reed is ready. We would have that left power bat we don't have (only Tucker). Third base it would be Lowrie, or move Gomez to 5th and Lowrie to 6th. Moran should play 3b in 2017. We don't need many changes, with 1 legit hitter, either LF or 1b, and a couple of relievers, we are there. It would be good if is a left handed hitter. We MUST re sign Sipp. Now, who should we get, first we must estabilsh if we are willing to lose picks for next year.
