i watched it this morning... at times a bit difficult to understand, i give him major props for giving such a long speech in english though, he did pretty damn good given the circumstances. as far as substance. he was pretty political in his speech, gave some pretty strong opinions on a number of controversial matters. i was pretty suprised how blunt he was to be honest. but he wasnt an ******* about his opinions, just stating what he thought. ---what i think was the most significant of the speech, was that congress are public servants and need to serve the people first. instead of being egotistical 'all or nothing' 'win or lose' or 'my way or the highway' kind of politics. politicians need to keep in mind what is for the common good of america and humanity alike. --- i thought the pope did a good job in giving out politicians a healthy reminder that they are people too, and they are there to serve the people and not themselves.
Probably not, goofy Papist nonsense is goofy Papist nonsense to me. By all means though, enlighten me as to why that comparison is wrong.
Taking care of the poor, his embrace of immigrants and preserving the environment is not controversial nor political issues.
Sure, but what it means to "take care of the poor", when/if to embrace illegal immigrants, and what entails preserving the environment ARE controversial political issues.
LOL, even if you aren't smart enough to realize it, they are controversial political issues to you as well.
Not at all. I fully embrace the Pope's message of inclusion. I just love seeing so called "christians" such as yourself get all bent out of shape and defensive when called on their hypocrisy. It just eats you freaks alive.
You do know that the Pope is no different to non-Catholics than the Dalai Lama right? He means nothing at all. Less than nothing to some.
So the Pope means nothing to you? Well that pretty much shows everyone here the quality of your character. I'm not surprised. Later dude! This agnostic is going to go watch the Pope.
LOL, of course he doesn't mean anything to me. He doesn't mean anything to most people. You are such a simpleton.
I'm not that religious but this Pope is the paragon of catholic aspirations. He understands the growing Catholic schism between global north and global south. His approach is much like Mandela who raised opinions that the U.S. didn't want to hear and later ignored when the press lionized him in a whitewashed way (Che T-shirt anyone?). The utility behind religion should be to challenge your preconceived thoughts and emotions, and I can fully understand American Christianity's resistance to it. After all, Catholicism isn't considered Christian by Evangelicals. I doubt it would. It's already mentioned he represents the hearts and minds of a billion plus people. It's better to stick your head in the sand on things that rustle your jimmies.

I'm not sure you understood what I said. Perhaps go back and read it again, maybe more slowly this time and see if you figure it out.
