Why? We don't have a franchise QB. Isn't that enough reason to be in panic mode? If we lose, we get a better pick. We win-Yay. We prolong the inevitable downfall one week later. We lose- Yay...we suck and need a new qb and better offense. I see win/win. Worst case scenario I see is going 8-8.
Sorry, I don't post often so I don't get the reference to that poster. I mean, do you see what I'm saying though? I don't want us to lose(being a diehard Texans fan) but isn't it sad to know that we are ready to panic if we lose to the Bucs?
Well, 8-8 could very well win the division this year. And probably opening a can of worms here, but how many teams have franchise QBs right now? Should every team that doesn't just tank every season until they get one? They don't grow on trees, you know.
Winning the Division is fun and all but I'd rather win a Superbowl. I don't like getting smashed in the playoffs by a Superior team just because we won in a crappy division. Not all have a FRANCHISE qb but how many have a worse situation than what we have right now? Not many. I'm just saying. I don't think we should TANK to get one but when we have the opportunity. We should try to get one or not neglect the offense. At least we get to see what Mallet can do rather than playing no future Hoyer here.
You can't tank every year and then all the sudden win the Superbowl. Just make the playoffs any way you can, and then anything can happen. I'd rather go 7-9 and win the Division than 11-5 and not make the playoffs.
I agree that I'd rather win the division at 7-9 than not making playoffs with 11 wins. I disagree about anything can happen in playoffs. LONG SHOT we win superbowl with this team. I'm not advocating tanking. I'm just saying that losing isn't the worst thing with my expectations already tempered for this team... I just find it pointless to fret over losing to a team like the Bucs.

He belongs. 16 Tyler Lockett, WR/KR/PR, Seahawks If you included the preseason, Lockett is probably at or near No. 1. He’s one of the steals of the draft, and I expect the Seahawks to make him a bigger focus in the passing game. Get him the ball, and big plays will follow.
There are at least 24-25 teams right now will laugh at Rick Smith if he calls in and say : "Hey, do you want to trade your QB for our QB straight up?" Alright I am wrong, actually the number should be 30.
That's my point. Why go into panic mode if we lose to the Buccaneers? We knew what we were getting ourselves into.

The Bucs are one of the worst teams in the NFL, any fanbase should panic if their team loses to the Bucs.
Coaching matters, but it can only affect so much. If a player doesn't have it, he doesn't have it, and no amount of coaching is going to change that. And that's kind of the problem with grooming a QB for 3 years. You're not really going to know what you have until you see it on the field. They may have been coached up plenty, it just might not be enough. Our staff seems to have actually put a lot of work into Savage. It's funny, because some people are calling for us to draft a QB in the 3rd/4th and develop them (like it's just that easy) when we're already doing that exact thing. Savage is still a year or two away from getting a legit shot, but if he can't be a legit starter, it won't be for lack of coaching. And why is not sitting rookies behind vets the norm? Well, Rodgers had the benefit of sitting behind Brett Favre. Brady had the benefit of sitting behind Drew Bledsoe. They were not the best QBs on their team when they came in. In a typical situation, a top QB prospect is drafted by a QB needy team. Almost by default, the rookie is the best QB on the roster. If you want to sit the QB for a year or two, you have to sit him behind a lesser QB. Imagine if the Texans somehow got Winston or Mariota (your pick) in this last draft. While there might be the desire to sit and groom him, can you really justify starting Hoyer or Mallett (especially given what we've seen the first two weeks) when your franchise QB is on the bench? That's the dilemma. Teams do try to do that, but they usually relent. Jacksonville wanted to sit Bortles behind Chad Henne but that only lasted a few weeks. Minnesota wanted to sit Bridgewater behind Cassel but he got injured and that forced their hand. The only eventual top tier QBs that sit are those who happen to land on teams with other good QBs, and that just doesn't happen very often because teams that already have good QBs usually don't invest highly in other QBs.
