Almost as appaling and disgusting I find when USA gives the death penalty to 14 y.o who have been judged and condemned as adults.

 

And this is the country that the UN appointed as the head of human rights panel? What a joke...

Granted this story is completely ****ed up, but we don't really have an amazing record on the death penalty, punishment, or the prison system as a whole.

 

Sweet Lou is probably still more OUTRAGED that some Muslim kid got asked a probing question by some teacher somewhere.

 

No, far from a perfect system, but at least we try to not be cruel. But yet, if you add up all of our penalty, punishment and prison system holding folks (particular those with mental illness), it's far from even a fair system. So yea, maybe not meant to be cruel but still society isn't that understanding, forgiving and are still quite cruel.

Just not at this level of public display. I didn't know crucifixion still happen...

 

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled a minor cannot be executed. Even prior to the ruling the youngest person sentenced to death in the United States in over 40 years was 17. Also those convicted had committed first degree murder and had not been simply protesting.

thanx nook for the info. I see it only happened exactly 10 years ago in 2005. Also until 2002 there was death sentence for the moderately mentally r****ded that they also stopped.
And it interesting also until 2008 the age of majority in Saudi Arabia for males was 15.

What about those 14. y.o kids who are sentenced as adults and now instead of the captital punishment they receive life in prison without paroles etc?
For sure the same LOGIC should apply here that they shouldn't be held to the same standard as adults for their crimes?
Before everyone is outraged , consider that our own laws , may be equally crazy to them.
And since I think that noone here is less than 10 , in YOUR lifetime it was legal in the USA to kill off a minor who had commited a crime. Implemented or not.

If we disrupt these brutal regimes we end up with ISIS. If we don't we end up with people who treat their citizens with brutality.

My stance is that we shouldn't ally ourselves with Saudi Arabia in the first place. We should be working with the global community to support reform across the middle east. Of course you wouldn't know that because you never ask. All you do it want to demonize Muslims.
